Dock workers been down for almost 2 weeks now. Never given any info, found out by asking a few drivers. All dock workers are talking with each other to give updates cause no one is telling us if we are working or not.
If I was you guys, I would request my vacation pay and check your 401k to make sure it is payed up and head to unemployment so you can get credit for all these days sitting home and not knowing what is going on. They are not going to pay you for sitting home !

I've been a driver at Land Air for almost 10 years. The FMCSA and DOT are getting more strict and making it harder for ALL companies to operate. Land Air has made some positive changes including their safety team which consist of 5 plus employees. This company has always been good to me and the equipment is decent. Its a really great company to work for that employs over 800 employees. A lot of good people with families who enjoy their jobs and enjoy being part of a great team. Its unfortunate a few of you had bad experiences. Not all of us have. All of the hatred inside you is ridiculous. . .

I delivered freight with my pick up truck to help the company in a time of need because I wanted to help, because I care, not because I was asked. Land Air has been good to me and hundreds of employees. We will pull through this and keep on trucking.

and if the safety team really cared, the time clocks and log books would have to start lining up, but hey, who would have thought the dot was wily enough to compare the two?

if you think land air express is "good" to people, you must be on your wifes insurance. a 10,500 deductible is not being good to people.....
You are exactly right ! That insurance was useless ! You were better off on Medicaid ! You couldn't even afford to use it because you were always paying 100% out of your pocket !

I carry insurance for my family, fortunately we're healthy. Its not that bad. Preventative care is fully covered. The rest is 80% 20%. No co-pay

Buffalobill, you've been singing the same Land Air blues since 2012. Don't you have anything better to do then Bash land air.. Get over it and move on with your life.

Our Safety team has cracked down on time clocks and log books, I even have to log if I'm helping on the dock. But you wouldn't know, because you don't work there anymore.

I really don't think this is what the FMCSA has in mind when they put a company out of service. if these guys get caught with bills and freight, in personal vehicles, I think they might get nailed, since they are STILL just LAXNE employee's delivering freight that they are not supposed to be delivering...

if you read about the intent of what the regulations are with the FMCSA, they are not ok with skirting around their orders with different trucks, a different name, a sham sale to a relative, etc. its the same thing.

but, reguardless, there is no way they are pulling enough revenue to even pay their electrical bills, let alone everything else they owe money on. I really hope you guys checks are cashed, and they squared up whatever money they owe you. I would be taking ALL my vacation time RIGHT NOW, just to make sure you get the money, because in a week, that might be gone.
You have no idea of the Regs. do you? An pout of business carrier can still have freight delivered. In this case the specific DOT Number is Out of Service. Anyone can deliver in their car if they wish, it is an insurance risk no more as they are not an interstate carrier.
You seem to find joy in this misery, I find that odd??? few on this board feel the way you do.
Perhaps if your job fails you may understand the frustration of these employees.
For your sake I hope you do not experience that.
Are you as joyful when union carriers fail????
get hold of the DOT regulations and read........

if the company wants to succeed, it first has to boost the moral of their employees or the company might as well close, there is no incentive to work for this company unless your fresh out of school and need experience.

There are terminals all over, I can't speak for all, but mine's good to work at. I have a boss that cares and good supervisors.

Hope to get my safety bonus soon. I know its coming either way. It always does.

US regulators shut down Northeast LTL trucking firm
William B. Cassidy, Senior Editor | Jan 04, 2016 11:38AM EST

The U.S. government closed one of the largest trucking companies in New England over the New Year’s holiday, but has not released details on why the carrier was shut down.

Federal regulators ordered Land Air Express of New England to stop service Dec. 29, and the regional less-than-truckload carrier remained closed Jan. 4. The company's president said he is waiting for a green light from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to reopen.

Land Air Express may be the largest trucking company to be placed out of service by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The carrier had $83 million in revenue in 2014, according to SJ Consulting Group, and ranked 44th on the list of the 50 largest North American LTL carriers published by JOC.com and the transportation research firm. The carrier operates more than 300 trucks and has more than 700 employees.

Carriers placed out of service for failing to comply with driver or equipment safety regulations historically have been much smaller firms, such as Garfield Trucking, a three-truck operator in Ohio ordered out of service in November for multiple safety violations.

Spencer said his company is working closely with customers and its carrier partners to weather the shutdown, which resulted from an FMCSA audit conducted earlier last year. He said the carrier, working with a third-party, had addressed the concerns raised in the audit.

Spencer declined to discuss details of the audit. "We're waiting to hear from (the FMCSA)," he said. JOC.com has requested more information on the investigation and a copy of the out-of-service order from the FMCSA.

The shutdown is likely to have ramifications beyond the Northeast. Land Air Express is part of the Reliance Network of LTL carriers, which includes Pitt Ohio, Averitt Express, and several other regional LTL carriers throughout North America.

What terminal were you out of ? I no Woody and Marty ran a good shops and everybody use to like coming by me when I was running my shop.

Gentlemen / Ladies, The sky isn't falling. The company isn't "going out of business". They are being reprimanded by the DOT for some paperwork related reporting issues that have since been rectified. How this turned into a bash session on LAXNE I'll never know. I challenge you to find a company that doesn't have disgruntled employees who are more than happy to tell you about how they were "wrongfully terminated" and how the company "sucks". The employees who are willingly delivering freight out of their pov's are the ones who take pride in their work and the company they work for and are fighting to retain as many customers as possible through this difficult time. It's sad to see the delight some are taking in the thought of LAXNE going under and costing HUNDREDS of hard working employees their jobs.

I was going rto say something but I find it funny how Land Air puts management to put comments what a great company they are and they don't do anything wrong. Maybe they have changed there practices, I hope so.

just send out your blob secretary to turn tricks at the truck stop. she can swap favors for a tire from one of the "new Canadians" hauling rail cans for free.....

I really hop your not talking about any one in particular. because you my friend are just a bitter person.

I am not bitter. I just think that as I sit NOT knowing how to feed my kids and NOT knowing when I will be back to work and NOT knowing if I'm getting paid for the time I couldn't work and lastly management NOT telling me a f**king thing is NOT the definanition of a good company. It is crazy the crap I see working there. The company knew it was going to be in trouble and didn't do a thing to prevent this shut down. A good company that makes $83 million in revenue last year should make sure its employees are paid. How many of you can lose over a weeks pay and not know when your next paycheck is coming or if you even will have a place to work day after day. We got no notice. Just a " hey do t come to work today" they can take up to 30 days to reinstate Land Air. My savings won't be able to take that hit. But hey, Spenser is fine. Maybe all of you who don't understand why employees are bitter should get together and pay my mortgage this month.

Mark, You have exposed yourself as nothing more than a disgruntled former employee with even your fellow former co-workers calling you out on your distortion of the facts surrounding your dismissal. Why do you think I'm some sort of "Manager" for them?, because I speak professionally and make very valid points? Trust me, we get it, you hate LAXNE. But unfortunately I don't think anyone wants to join you in your campaign to see the company go under. Maybe you should just take everyone's advice and "get over it and move on".

Bud nobody is arguing that fact. You see employees here that are also not getting paid. I understand your frustration but bashing the company now is not the solution. We all attempted to help in anyway possible because this is our bread and butter. Your right there hasn't been much information if any. But the goal is to get back rolling and make some money. If your still very upset even after the company gets back, make your money and move on to "better" companies. That is it.

Now you are twisting my words around, I never said I wanted to see land Air go under, in a matter of fact I posted that I felt bad for all the good employees that are sitting home without pay and I also stated that I felt bad for Bill Spencer be cause if he new the truth of what was going on when I worked there he would have cleaned house at that terminal. So get your facts straight before you attack someone. So much ::shit:: grew legs and walked out of that terminal and when I tried to let Bill no what was really going on my car was trashed, my wallet was stolen out of my tool box, And all of a sudden the cameras went down. I liked certain people in management including Jason and Jeff be cause they were stand up guys. And as per the tires and the equipment that walked out of that shop, it was done after hours. Because there were to many people around and somebody would have seen something. And we all no who had the second set of keys to that shop and it kept happening even after I left and I called Jason to give him a heads up after Iwas already gone, so don't say I didn't give a dam. Everyone knows why I was terminated. I was the fool that gave a dam about the company and tried to do the right thing and got screwed for it ! Now your also going to tell me that a notice didn't go around and a message wasn't sent to the road drivers not to talk to me because they didn't want anybody to no the truth and also the fact they didn't want me to no about all the crap that was still going on. I still have copies of everything I sent to the office about what was going on including all the complaints I filed with HR about MR threatening me after I notified the office. Maybe you would like for me to post all of them so people can really see what went on ?
