Thank you , Thank you! I needed a ray of sunshine. I met Marcy Kaptur in D.C. and she promised me she would do everything possible to help us. I will be sending her my thanks as well. This is what we need, a full report and how they came up with the numbers. Cuts are needed but more fair and not so steep. I have always thought it was a witch hunt and all about the Orphans. I think the states have started to figure out the trucking hubs will see the biggest impact of the cuts to spending ratio. Time will tell and I want to Thank all of you who wrote letters to your congress and senators. For those who have not done so yet, now is the time.

I may be off base here and it's not my intention to offend UPS retirees. I doubt that many would disagree that UPS's withdrawal from CSPF played a big part in this situation. If Kline-Miller had not given UPS a special exemption the UPS retirees would not be in a special tier. They would be subject to the same cuts as ABF, YRC and other retirees whos companies still contribute or paid their withdrawal liabilities. If members of Congress are really sincere in reforming MPRA then repeal the exemption and let UPS make up the $2 Billion in retiree cuts it agreed to when they withdrew from CSPF. That in itself should lessen the so called "orphans" massive pension cuts.

Got a feeling this could be the start of a big investigation into CSPF and if everything is not up to par some people may be taking long intimate showers with some very nasty people..
I just wonder how many other pension funds will be looked at???

This is a start, a tiny group of congressmen and women who are trying. This does not constitute a congressional hearing and CSPF will probably laugh at it behind closed doors. It is good to see just the same and let's hope that it is the beginning of something bigger.

You have to crawl before you can walk to me this is the crawling stage but if CSPF does not appear with all the information that was requested sure will put up a lot of red flags and if there are discrepancies in the records you may see the walking stage..
This may open the eyes of a lot more congressmen and more may get on board....
Just saying

The pie is only one size, the pie needs to be larger, not make one slice of the pie larger while the others are made smaller. Many people have been retired for a long time and have collected the full amount. There is not much left for my husband and I now that we are approaching retirement. Nothing good here.....same old thing that they've been doing. Continue to pay retirees as much as possible while the rest of us can work until we fall over and collect nothing.

Once the dust settles where is the money going to come from to shore up the fund to the levels that it should pay? No where! Republicans hate unions, especially us, Teamsters.

Has nothing to do with Repubs vs Dems. Has to do with Math. The USA is broke, and so is our fund. Mine will be cut (supposedly only by half) when I plan to retire. It probably won't be there at all, in reality.

I don't think the fund is broke but badly bent but I think you posted you have 81/2 years before you want to draw that gives you time to make finincial plans not get a letter in the mail saying you are going to be cut 60% in a matter of months..
Most of the people getting cut are over 65 pretty much living month to month and are not afforded the luxury of making other financial plans..

If no cuts, a now 20 year 45 yr old will draw nothing for 40 yrs when he can retire at 65.

I'm almost 62, plan to go at 70. Like you, too late to make it up. So I'm not in favor of you getting. 100% and me getting zero. Teamsters always stood for equality. Cut Everyone 50% so we all get something.

Do not know how this will play out yet but "50%" will leave most no better off than 0....

I have relatives thst survive on minimum social security and nothing else. Didn't say it's wonderful. I can't imagine anyone responsible retiring before their debts were paid. Its math. CSPF promised twice as much as they can deliver. One group wants another group to get slashed. Make it equal to all

Ya I had a Grand Father that once a month got surplus Beans and Peanut Butter too. I would never imply he lived on that alone. Family and friends helped...different time probably never see it again in this day where "Math" is king. Debts being paid is a long way from no problems and I personally doubt very few were irresponsible when they retired. So no matter what lets cut everyone to poverty status to guarantee those 8, 10, 20 years from now they will get a stipend I seriously doubt they can live on. Makes no sense in the age of broken promises to me. I prefer to believe there are other alternatives and will not wish anybody get slashed.

I wish no one cut either. I live in reality. Wait until SSI is slashed too. About when I retire. Math unfortunately, is a constant.
