XPO | Terminal Closing

Shreveport (LSL) is just an hour away, little less after the new I-49 just opened. Little Rock (LLR) is a 2 hour drive from Texarkana. The remaining guys will be able to move, hopefully keep their seniority because 2 of the guys are 25 year drivers and 1 of them is a 2 Million Mile driver, the other is a past Arkansas state champ driver, he entered the driving championship and got state.

The real question that comes to mind is how many more will they be closing. All around this country we have terminals that are within 1-2 hours from one another.

I don't know how Consolidated Freight or Con-way ever thought it was a good idea to have so many terminals so close together. The waste that goes on between so many is probably ridiculous. There really isn't any need from what I can tell to have so many so close together.

There's some areas that will be left totally without coverage since LTA will be shut down. Mt. Pleasant, Paris (both in Texas) and then Broken Bow and Idabel in OK won't have service and the surrounding towns also. El Dorado, AR was shut down and Monroe, LA (LMO) comes up to service that area.

Here in Michigan we have a few that were close back a few yrs back they closed some. Flint, port huron, Lansing etc. Pontiac xpn is 45min drive from xde detroit but xpn makes alot of money. Xde is a fac. Ann Arbor terminal is 45 mins west of xde

LTA hasn't had a SCM for a few months now. Last one was found in a motel room by the maid after he met up with some girl on CL. Apparently she just wanted the company car, phone and his wallet. Don't know if they've recovered any of that.
Now we know why an SCM wasn't sent in.

Wow, thanks for the heads up, I will remember that if I ever get into the area!:lmao::lmao::shift:

LMBO!! Yeah...joke of the SC's around town. Spread like wildfire around here. But different stories came out...then the newspaper put in a story when the girl was finally found and taken into custody. Name of the victim not mentioned butttttttt...we knew who it was.

A few years back they(Con-Way) closed a lot of smaller terminals, if these smaller terminals aren't making money then they will probably be rolled into a larger terminal, especially if they are being leased. I know 1 terminal that pays $10,000 a month just for lease, it probably could be shut down and still be serviced

This was a deterrent to unionization. If a terminal unionized , you could go around it easily from a nearby terminal.

Except that you get in major federal trouble if you say "oh, that terminal unionized? close it!"

Yeah, you can play games by rerouting freight and saying the terminal wasn't needed, but it's not like the union isn't wise to that game or is afraid of launching legal action...

LTA was making money. Had been for years although small. Had potential to be bigger. Local FedEx just announced they're building a bigger SC here. Their freight division is 3 times the size of Con-Way's. OD came in later than CSE here and they have twice the size SC as Con-Way so it hasn't been a matter of not doing well but of Con-Way not realizing it's potential here.
