XPO | Terminal Closing

The real question that comes to mind is how many more will they be closing. All around this country we have terminals that are within 1-2 hours from one another.

I don't know how Consolidated Freight or Con-way ever thought it was a good idea to have so many terminals so close together. The waste that goes on between so many is probably ridiculous. There really isn't any need from what I can tell to have so many so close together.
Our whole operations would have to change. Maybe the smaller terminals would close that are an hour away from bigger terminals but for example you couldn't close XAC and run it out of XCL or XAY. None of the next dY freight would make service. XAC is too big. So you just can't close a terminal because it is one hour away from each other

LTA was making money. Had been for years although small. Had potential to be bigger. Local FedEx just announced they're building a bigger SC here. Their freight division is 3 times the size of Con-Way's. OD came in later than CSE here and they have twice the size SC as Con-Way so it hasn't been a matter of not doing well but of Con-Way not realizing it's potential here.

FXF is building another new on in Texarkana? We got their old one when they moved into the one they're in now. Maybe we can move there as well, it's bigger and we're busting at the seams in Texarkana...

It was on the city agenda for building. I asked if it were going to be FedEx express or Freight. I haven't gotten a response. I just thought..we have a friend that works for FedEx Freight and he could tell me.

My daughter works the office for the past year at OD. They've talked to her about moving to Dallas and become a supervisor but she has too much here to just up and move at this moment. Most of the drivers there are ex-conway drivers, some that worked with my husband. They LOVE it. One of the linehaul drivers just put in over there after the announcement of LTA closing.

OD is a smaller operation than XPO by all accounts, XPO is going thru a fat cutting trend that is so close to what I have saw in the past with other ltl companies, and its not over yet, more supervisors are next within 3 to 6 months, and office personal

I heard through the grapevine that Hayward, WI & Sacred Heart, MN are closing terminals down. Told us there is an announcement tomorrow or Wednesday, I'm pretty sure this is what they're going to announce, but not 100% sure.

We were told last night

Because just like everything else XPO has done thus far, they have totally botched the chain of communication flow.
No information breeds mis-information..
Ahhh, no. It's the individual managers. Every manager was on the conference call yesterday, and were told to stay all day and evening to meet with as many staff as possible. Get the remainder today.

Maybe in this instance, but overall it's been very poor.
The TMs that I've talked to say they are kept in the dark and wish they had more info on things.
I don't think there is any debate about that..

I hear XHB is closing also?

Yep. Plus the loss of runs to South Bend. And we don't get to change our bids. They come in and bid whatever they can hold. We are stuck for a year. Two weeks into a bid.

I understand respecting their time. But this is not respecting ours.

I'm curious is your Vincennes, in & Evansville, in barns staying or going? I have buds at these, hope they stay.
Sorry I don't know the 3 letter thing.

As I posted in "New pay plans", this was the first info passed along to us in meeting form since the big St. Louis meeting. Tm's told to hold off till yesterday to pass along info while things on raise were finalized. Like you said, all tm's should have been on that call!
