ABF | Letter of Protest to change of operations

Now that is a interesting proposal. Normally the transferring party is protected for a year. But again if your Local was trying real hard they would have already come down to the terminal and ASK the BROTHERS what they wanted. Lets say that the majority wants the change as written, How would the Local know unless they come down and ask every MAN! GO no disrespect for a Local that was really trying. I'm calling :horseshit: on this PROTEST. If they haven't ask all the Brothers then they are worse than just blowing smoke.
THE BROTHERS OF THE LOCAL 401 have UNANIMOUSLY signed the letter in question with names and employee #s so their is no question we all as AGREE!!!!

Local #30 didn't officially receive notice of the COO, or a copy of the proposed change until 2/6.

We are in a process of putting our letter to the Committee together asking for a number of clarifications.

Management has had the COO information for more than a month. I guess this just let's us know how important we are when it takes more than a month to provide the same information to the Union,.....or as we're also known:....The people who actually do the work.

We will proceed with the same sense of urgency the company had providing us the COO information.

The IBT has had the entire COO why has it taken so long for them to get it to your local ?

Oh,......I don't know, Brother. My B.A. is running on the Teamsters United opposition slate,.......and I hope that wouldn't have anything to do with it,...as that would be petty and peurile,....... Completely disingenuous, and inconsistent with any Union leadership principles. A dirty little political trick, suggestive of a two-bit fire hall officer election, .......rather than the Morals and policies of our once great Union.......

Surely it was a mere oversight......

:clapping: Good job, keep up the fight, can you share what your concerns are so that others may benefit from the information?
We would like to know the exact meet point, as that would determine the pay for that run,......and that, in itself, may determine who would follow their work out of Carlisle.

We are also concerned as to whether we can revert back to a single seniority board once the protection period in the COO expires.

That Sucks. Politics should never get in the way of the greater good. ( yes I know it does I'm a 30 year 3rd generation teamster) maybe your BA could've reached out to another Local to get it. I've had a copy of it for a month or so I would've gladly sent it to you. We have enough BS from the company to having to overcome added obstacles from within

You are right but sadly enough that is the way it is. Voted out of office? Take it out on the members, set ups for failure for the new representatives, documents destroyed, children's Christmas Parties canceled and more.

Thank you, Brother. There were copies available to be had, but we would like to move through the official channels in the event there was an actual challenge to the company's proposals . That way, everyone's receipts are in order,.....ducks in a row, so to speak,.....and any official question is met with an official response,........and there can be no question about subversive and clandestine ways of gathering what should be fairly common knowledge. No way for anyone with an agenda to cloud the issue at hand, if you know what I mean.

Pretty sad when you consider we are all supposed to be on the same side.......the Good Side, to say the least,........and we have to watch our own backs..........

Company people are probably laughing so hard now they're wetting themselves in squirts.......we are fighting to destroy each other,.....one group to continue the featherbedding and the Good Ol' Boy-ing,....and the other group to uphold and restore the dignity and morality of our Union. We all know which side the companies are rooting for.....

We've got to reach out to those thousands of Teamsters who no longer bother to participate,....or vote,....or question,.....because they're convinced our ........"leadership".....has bought and sold them,...and nothing they do or say will make a difference. They've walked away out of a sense of defeat,....out of watching shoddy, stinking contracts being rammed down their throats,.....grievances sitting....on...ahem..."hold"....for more than a year,......management interpreting the contract "on the fly".......Regional V.P.'s and heads of grievance committees actually telling members not to bring that grievance to the committee, because it will fail,......no matter what it's merits. Can't Rock The Boat!

Well,...if we can reach those disenfranchised Brothers and Sisters, and tell them their feeling of disenfranchising was planned and masterminded to defeat the power of the Rank-and-File,......and if we can stir up some Righteous Anger and Vengeance amongst those who've walked away from participation,.........I damn well betcha we can Rock their Boat like an Iceberg rocked the Titanic.......

"Captain Hoffa, Sir! We've struck a very angry nerve with the Rank-and-File, Sir!" "Never you mind that, Ensign Johnson. Go tell Ensign Sweeton to schedule my golf outing for when we make landfall....."

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!!

This should work. Tony Nations and ABF is not the place that this should be sent. The issue needs to be addressed with the Chairman of the committee.

Any word on the change? Hearing 2 more terminals filed a letter of protest Carlisle being one of them....

Nothing here but those protest letters aren't worth the time, effort or paper wasted on them.

So your saying we should just lay down? That's what's wrong with this union, to many happy just to have a job. Will the change pass absolutely! But if nothing comes of the letter of protest at least 184 tried....

So your saying we should just lay down?
No, I'm not saying that we should just lay down, I'm saying that they should follow the procedures. A letter of protest is meaningless. A COO has been proposed and a meeting or hearing on it will be had (if it hasn't already been had). Along with the proposed COO would be instructions on where and how to submit objections to it and any objections would be sent to whoever is in charge of the COO committee on the union side then they would be addressed. Anything else is just a fart in the wind.

So...sometime next spring we'll hear what the union and company have agreed to...we'll see it when the company implements it around May 1st.
I call & stop in my hall looking for answers & information & I will on March 31st. I will post whatever I learn. If your delegate isn't coming to you soon enough then call or go to them.

COO on March 30th at the Airport Hilton in Kansas City, Mo. The IBT has a block of rooms reserved at the hotel. Get your B.A. to attend and file the Protest there,....that's the proper place

If my BA does attend will he have to file another letter of protest?

If the rank & file were to learn Parliamentary procedure, know it front & back, started attending their local freight meetings, using their knowledge of Parliamentary Rules, attempting to change in how our Union is managed, would it make a difference?
