Anyone know how the union vote went in Waynesboro. I know they voted the other day and was just curious on the outcome. Waynesboro has been a "hold-out" for several years but I understand that some of the drivers finally "opened their eyes".

I was informed by a friend who has been with UPS Freight for almost 25 years that there was a vote and the outcome was to be announced this past Wed(16th). Maybe you are right, but I really don't think that this person would call me and tell me a "flat out lie".

I recognize the problem and am in 100% agreement with you, but it is up to the rank and file to correct what is going on with those who are in "leadership". When the membership keeps voting the same "company bought leaders" right back in office, what can a member expect?? And then not only that, but I really believe that union members have lost sight that an union is a "brotherhood", but what do you see everyday, one worker trying to "cut another worker's throat", ratting to the company, anything to try to "put a star in their crown"--LOL

At the very "heart' of the whole problem is that there are far too many union members who are living from payday to payday and they cannot afford to "stage a walkout". And the company along with the so-called leaders of the Teamsters know this and know that the members will take anything that "comes down the pike".

I think you're both right but I give up. Our 'union' sucks and we no longer have control over the 'freight' union...it is no longer a freight union and we are the ones giving them the diaper rash. They hate us and wish that we just sit down, shut up and keep the dues money flowing. Given the state of our current contract I would certainly not go out of my way to work in a Teamster shop should I have to go job hunting again.

THERE WAS NO UNION VOTE IN WAYNESBORO, VA. I spoke to 3 different drivers and all 3 said there was no vote.

That's OK, It is what they want more power to them. I'm in a union terminal and that is how we voted. We all have the same job to do. If they think being nonunion will benefit them more, I think they're in for a disappointment. I would bet their benefits or pay isn't above the union terminals...

Also the fact that most freeloaders think being a Teamster should be easy, aka pay dues, get benefits. They fail to realize being a Teamster was never easy. It takes as much work as any job. Most only go as far as comiserating on forums like TB.

We went from fighters to crybabies.

Uh huh, so where would you go?? The couple of guys here on TB who can actually "prove" they work non Union now, much less anywhere else, aka pro posters, are powder puffs who need to be told how great they are to massage their inflated ego's. It's not enough for these morons to just do their job.

You going to walmart, Batesville Casket, Estes, FedEx???

Na, there are a couple of chemical companies around I would hit or maybe even leave trucking altogether.

Just try to remember, you still have one of the best gigs in trucking. It may not be what it once was, but most would love to be where you are now.
