HI guys,
Today I had to go down to Kentucky and on my way down there I saw a Schneider truck pulling a set of YRC doubles. Usually I see you guys pulling your own trailers. Now to be fair I did see a few of you guys pulling your own doubles, but I thought, gee that's pretty odd, I can't say I've ever seen any third party pulling YRC trailers. Anyhow I was just wondering what was going on there?

It's the new trend MikeJ. It's called PTS, which I believe stand for Purchased Transportation Services. It's all part of how Hoffa has been selling us out. The union companies are all allowed to use outifits like Schneider, CRST, Werner, Covenant Transport, et al to move our freight. The freight they get is our gravy work from one point to another usually longer distances and it's often done while our union drivers are sitting home for lack of work.

The main reason why I can't get a friday night extra run to new Penn Camp hill. Nice place to lay down at on an extended sat night (irish pub)and head home on sun morning.

That's what I figured.

In the last MOU2014 PTS was going to be used for overflow and new business (our union told us that) Lo and behold these PTS companies are running our lanes as if they were bid runs and on a regular schedule.CRST. has tractors that are single axle dedicated to YRC.Their tractor numbers start out with YR.

Does 511 have drivers sitting around while this is going on? Are there a lot of greivances being paid? I have heard about inbound drivers dropping at EOL (525/508) and taking shuttle freight to 511. I never did hear the rest of the story on sleepers running out of 511 to El Paso and then heading west.

Yes there has been several sleeper teams and potentials sitting.I thought that the pts runs that are being ran as bid runs should've been offered to the members first.Alot of the members sitting file for that 4 week wage guarantee

That must be for the "new" business we got after the mou?:hide:

Hold on I have Tyson on the phone. . . "Yes" "Unhuh" . . . Tyson wants to know if you drive cement truck like he did. "I see" "Well OK Goodbye" . . .Tyson had to run, he was late for his tee time. But he did say if you can prove the PTS are running in cement trucks then he would gladly call a meeting with the company and demand an end to this nonsense.

Shows you to a degree how there is overcapacity in the TL market that bottom feeders like CRST Schneider etc have to use us to justify there existence in a way!!! Very sad!

You know I always thought that too, go to any truck stop and you see rows and rows and rows and rows of OTR trucks and I thought, there's really enough freight to keep all these trucks moving? Considering I see YRC, ABF and UPS trailers piggy backed on freight trains all the time. Not to mention that big plants and places like that can ship and receive via rail. A friend of mine used to work at Ford they shipped most of there finished motors out via rail to the other Ford plants why take 4 trucks to do the job of one rail box car?

I would guess whatever compensation they receive from the ltl carrier may be better than much of their regular freight. For the most part also,it is drop, hook, and drive. Not having their drivers wait to load and unload allows them to max out their driving hours daily. Especially teams. Like Wong and I.
