FedEx Freight | Sign up now for TDC

I see what your saying but everyone should be extra careful not just people that plan to compete in TDC. I am extra safe also but it doesn't have anything to do with TDC. I will personally will never compete, because i think it's a waste of time and i think the participants should be payed for their time when trying to gain the company accolades. I know if you win you can win money but the company should also compensate employees for their time. I understand alot of guys love to compete in it, usually the same every year and good for them i will always be rooting for my fellow employees to win.
I understand and agree, we should all do these things anyway, but having an incentive helps to raise the awareness level.

Note: You are paid (for lost time) to compete, but not to practice/prepare...

Time to start studying!!!!

Some folks just like to avoid competition, in most any form. They consider it a waste of time because they are afraid to see how they would stack up. As to the carriers that choose to participate, I guarantee they feel it is a worthy endeavor. Intangibles; positive publicity when their drivers excel. Increased morale amongst drivers when one of their own is doing well. Good luck to all those who compete!

EX thanks for your support. The TDC is a great opportunity to meet some really nice folks. Also the preparation is a great learning experience. I think everyone should at least go one time. In my four years of competition I feel it has raised my awareness for safety.

Has nothing to do with being afraid of competition or seeing how we stack up to others. We are all professionals if you don't have confidence in your driving ability you should find another profession. It's a waste of time to me because we're not compensated for our time trying to win the company accolades. I know others live for this competition and there is nothing wrong with that I support my coworkers in their quest to win these competition's.

Is the National Grand Champion not rewarded for his/her victory? If you want compensation, be the best of the best and win the competition!!

I'm pretty sure he said "some" are afraid of competition. I thought FedEx gave you a days pay, and if you win, $1000. Pretty good return for someone that's a professional and confident in their abilities.

It All Comes Down to Inches During Louisiana Truck Driving Championships

"It begins with an hourlong written exam testing drivers’ knowledge of the trucking industry, safe-driving rules, first aid and fire fighting. Then, drivers undergo a pre-trip inspection test in which State Police officers create defects — such as missing or bad wiper blades, malfunctioning seat belt or an unsecured hood latch — that drivers must find on a vehicle and trailer.

Then came the driving..."
