Anyone heard this rumour about wanting driver facing cameras? Hopefully we havent come to this. We all do our jobs safely and really dont deserve it. Like i said, its just hear say but i hope it doesnt come to be true. I like the way things are and dont want them to turn into con job.

This is one of those things I really don't get. The only purpose of a driver facing camera is to catch someone doing something wrong. They already fire most involved in a serious accident. Although I guess this would prevent the half of the fired that go to the safety review and get their job back. But, with the driver shortage that is going to occur in the next 5-10 years, why try to find more reasons to fire drivers? Give us front facing cameras that are always on, give us cameras on mirrors that look back. Those would be beneficial. The front facing could cause anyone to be let go. Everyone is guilty of something as simple as stuffing a snack in your mouth, pulling up google maps or wave apps when you hear or see traffic, changing your music, etc.. that could be called distractive ...if they want to find a reason to let you go. I don't know, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I doubt you'll find many saying point a camera at me all day everyday. If they do put a camera in my face, I want a camera in the face of all the terminal managers, dispatch offices, and dock shack's as well. If they see me pick my nose, I want them on camera picking their nose too.

We already have front facing cameras in every truck. The LDWS is always recording but only saves the data in the event of a sudden acceleration, deceleration or impact. Don't see the driver facing camera as realistic. The cost to outfit this many trucks isn't worth the benefits.

There was a rumor that there was a camera on the Blu.But it was some older models. The new trucks ,with radios, have something on there that looks like it could be a camera.

Add that to a city driver's truck and that handheld would never be touched until the truck stops at the next destination no matter how many time it beeps. The personal cell phone would never be answered when dispatch is calling until the driver is on the pavement outside the truck. Just imagine how local dispatch would have to change with the new reality too.

Just a rumor. They are no camera's on the blu devices. But,hey if you don't believe just act like there's one there and you will be just fine.

Corporate loves laughing at the paranoia drivers have with the light sensor on the blu. But hey, why does it matter if we're all safe drivers? Whenever I pass an OD driver in my personal vehicle they're too busy talking on their phone, texting while driving, scanning bills while driving or taking pictures with their phone while driving. More than enough proof of that last part on he Internet.

The place in the unit is for a camera. But,they are not hooked up.

Thats the answer i was looking for. I wasnt aware that they had come out and said that. Thanks have a safe day.
3 or 4 bad & expensive accidents with questions as to who was @ fault will change that attitude of no facing the driver cameras. Or just a little pressure from the insurance underwriter saying we will save you 5 % a year on every tractor you have will be a game changer. Count on it.

My opinion on the camera's.Look at Conway.I think just has soon OD does this it will show that OD doesn't trust there drivers and it will go down from there.
:ranting2: Just keep talking about the camera issue and the Company may start thinking that OD Driver's have something to hide or you are doing a safety issue in the OD truck. Con Way has fired and this new company is just has bad, a lot of driver's over dumb stuff. I know, my son out of Akron, Ohio just got fired over the camera issue (15 years at Con Way). I will get back with you about my son.:violin:

You have missed my point But,you just spoke. The drivers at Conway/XPO had no trust in the company when they put the Camera's in.The Company didn't trust them any more.Sorry for your Son.But,again if you do your job and Drive like we are suppose to do then there will never be a problem

Linehaul keeps rolling these trucks over like they've been, you can thank them in a year or two when the trucks all have cameras.

How about when you local drivers are hitting low overpass what are clearly marked. Like with that straight truck up in Seattle. Maybe OD will want to no what your looking at since it's clearly not the signs.
