I am guessing roadway did not put fuel gauges in the trucks then because it saved them money ,and deemed them unnecessary because they wanted them fueled at every bb. With me, it was kind of a psychological thing. Always kept you checking the fuel during your pretrip to make sure you had enough.
Hell we didn't get power steering until Volvo told them it would cost more to build tractors without it.

Stop in Carlisle and get fuel. Charge them for your time.
That's still a pain in the ass. And Heaven forbid it then puts us on a toll road to Ohio! Or adds 40 or so miles running the back roads. But hey, Whatever they want right?
Wadda I know? I'm just a dumb steering wheel holder!

Roadway paid about $250 per tractor to not have power steering as it was standard equipment. They did not want the upkeep. It was only after it was mandated that they got power steering. This information came from Volvo service rep.

Kind of like the key they had installed on the back wall cab a/c units, so when a city guy took a linehaul he could not use the ac because it was not in the contract.

But, but, but, I thought Roadway was the more wonderful company to work for! :hide: :lmao:

That's right, My bad!

Well I know for a fact that most centers I go to usually don't fuel tractors all the way up.Which enhances the expenditures of that fueling at that particular center.

I'm guessing it will be done the old way from now on,.....fuel and call for a PO #. We never had fuel cards, we fueled and called in. Roadway had an account with Dysarts in Bangor, ME. and Buzzy's in NH. and Goodall's in Ct. didn't need a PO # with them.
Maybe that's the purpose of the Book, they will be established accounts, just sign and roll.
