Yellow | What's up Kansas City?

25-30 inbound came in from midnite to 8am today. We usually get 50-70 in that time period. You can tell for the last 2 weeks going into the weekend they are routing more freight around us.
Not saying I know anything lex, but at some Chicago area terminals the focus is service, and to achieve it, the push is towards building more directs, city drivers calling in volume, or possible head load shipments so dock can plan, and try to avoid freight sitting at 309 excessive hours.

Why wouldn't the city driver just put the volume or header information in with the pickup when he keys it in, rather then calling on the telephone?

Because some when picking up multiple bills just enter 1 bill, and no freight the rest, so when they print the skel bills when the trailer arrives, the dock literally does not know all what is on the trailer because the clerks just manually printed it. Some guys pickup 10 bills at a stop and enter 1. All about dock planning

It's more the dock is backed up rather then the road. I took two KC loads into Omaha last night and had two guys come in behind me doing the same. Funny thing I never saw a coo.
If these breaks can't handle the freight now when it's not really that busy what will they do when it gets busy? Oh I got a idea, how about paying more so you can attract more people.

Why would you not put in your bills? Its your job!

Just last week, the TM showed everyone on the computer from the previous day, the actual bill count entered. Picked up 509 bills, only 245 entered. Creates extra unnecessary clerical, dock planning, and so forth. Most of the whiners came up with the excuse, takes too long, screen locks up,blah, blah, blah. Forgot lazy also.

Think I am beginning to see why YRC is always in the hole. If your TM fails to follow progressive discipline for failure to input bills, well then its on him.

They get paid by the hour to do it. Easier than working...
