Estes | Schedule

Sometimes you might get home in the middle of the week. Don't count on it though. Sometimes it just happens.

Usually decent hotels. If you have a problem with one there are sometimes options. Ask around if you're not sure and some drivers will tell you where they're staying.

You take your truck to the hotel. And to Whataburger or wherever. You have 30 miles of personal conveyance use per day that counts as off duty time.

Mostly nights, especially out of Houston. Houston is an EOL terminal and not much relay freight comes through there.
You know....in the almost 5 years of driving I've been stopping by all these places on Travel Channel/Food Network and chowing down....but ALWAYS wanted to try Whataburger and never had the chance! Last time I was in TX(Rockwall) I finally had In And Out....it was ok....don't see the rave....now Cook Out is the BEST! Good thing to know I'll have a 13' 6" pick up to try out other places, in due time! haha

Mostly nights! Our extra guys run days. Take trucks to motels. We use upscale hotels, Hilton's, Marriott's etc don't stay in anything less then 4.75 stars
Mildew, are you being serious about the 4 star hotel thing because I've had some really bad experiences at some of these hotels.

Minneapolis, Indy, Lexington, and Kansas City in particular I have problems with. I'll stay at terminal primary hotel if it's reasonable, but I'm starting to dread going to some of these ::shit:: holes these cheap terminal managers force us to stay in.

That Ramada in KCK used to be awesome. Now there are homeless people sleeping on the couches in the lobby. Most of our guys go to the American now.

Some people call CLC and ask for alternatives. I mean, if a hotel is all booked up, what else can you do, right? :D

what terminals on the East Coast have 'bunk houses'? Are they nice? Do lot lizards knock on your door?(haha that was a joke), but still....just curious....I know if I have to stay, I gotta stay...didn't know if I should bring a pillow or 2 and a blanket if I have to stay at one.

really? Only for scheduled drivers then? That's interesting. Ok....no worries....just curious...since I've joined, why is everything I post on being 'watched'?

Correct. Only for schedules.

If you look in the upper right of a thread, there's a "unwatch thread" option. I think if you look in your user control panel, there are options to not automatically watch them as well.

I usually check CLC website if don't like the primary hotel. Found a few good ones that way. No reason to stay at a bug infested rat hole!

They started that back in January of 2015. The schedule drivers get their own room so they can keep their stuff in it and have a home-away-from-home.

I don't know what prompted them to make this change, but I haven't heard anyone complain... except the schedule drivers who have to stay in a bunk room.

RAMADA in KC was booked, went to the Pear Tree Inn 5 miles south. There's a list of hotels on the line haul board at every terminal. If you ever go to Jacksonville FL don't stay at the Quality Inn. Go to the Country Inn and Suites behind the Wendy's. That's where many of us stay. If you get a sleeper it still doesn't matter you stay at the hotel.

get a sleeper? REALLY? I thought all linehaul companies used sleepers for teams.....or you talking about a 'loaner' incase my truck is broke down or something?

We recycle older sleepers for extraboard drivers. Last time I ran extra, I had a brand new KW sleeper but that was an anomaly. Most of our guys at my barn run the white freightliners. I think they're 2014 or 2015...

The sleepers ride better, often have larger tanks, and there's more room to keep your stuff. If you prefer a daycab, just say so. At my barn it's about half and half and you generally drive what you want.

But as bigwv said... You take that sleeper right to the motel. We don't take our 10 or our 34 in them. I used mine for the 30 minute break sometimes.

We had one at our terminal but it was taken away from driver. Couple of us have requested one but no luck.

What I tried to day before I hit the button too fast was that at our terminal we have one sleeper. It's for teams. Had another but was taken away from driver. He has day cab. A couple of us requested one but was told bo way! I'd like to have one!

well I'm in my sleeper NOW! haha gonna be different driving a daycab.....as long as I have my radio setup....and NOT have to switch it up every week is just fine by me! I'll drive a sleeper....kinda used to those now, anyways!

More likely to be home Monday before noon. I know guys that stay out for 3-4 weeks then take a long weekend off. Their choice of course.
