Record breaking outbound bill count at nor last week. Smoked everyone else in the system by thousands of bills. Maybe central can throw us a bone and create a few more high mileage runs.

Nah. They'd just give it to TL, J&J or Landstar. Central cut the #2, 3 & 4 senior drivers bid runs in GBO Friday night to give to Sleeper Shuttle. 4 of the top 6 senior drivers left home, not even anything off the unassigned board to choose.

There is (or was) an unwritten rule that we followed in HOU that "Seniority Rank Runs". We fought with local management about this many times and won every time.
If your run is cut, you go to your seniority spot on the board. If no volunteers stay home then you start from the bottom and bump up the seniority list.
Bottom man may have a bid run but he loses it to a senior driver who got cut from his run.
I used to volunteer to sit home often so the junior guys wouldn't be stuck in a perpetual stay home situation.
If all senior drivers want to run and 5 runs get cut and 5 stay home, the ones that stay home default to the bottom 5 drivers and the senior drivers runs that were cut run the junior drivers runs.

Not in GBO. A decision was handed down two weeks ago by the SVCD that a senior driver can not volunteer to take off so a less senior driver can work. "It could cause conflict and confusion ". If the #1 driver that might have a 600 mIle run is willing to stay home on Friday night so a bottom driver that has only run 2 nights could run, is not allowed to. The only way he can, is to call out sick and take the points or pre-schedule vacation day. "If we have your run, you must run it".

What he failed to realize is that there were those drivers (myself and a couple of others) that knew better and we fought it. We took it to Central with Mike and Pam, explained the situation, and Mike and Pam TOTALLY agreed with the drivers, contacted Mr. big shot t/m and educated him on what was right.
Many of the junior drivers whined and cried like little girls but what they failed to realize is that we were right. Don't let these temporary holders of the se management positions come in and force their will upon the drivers. If you know you are right (and I can see by what you said that this t/m is full of crap) you take it to a higher level.
Every regime that came into HOU tried their best to put rules in place of their choosing. While I was there it never ever stood. I would be on the horn in a heartbeat and then things would run as they should.
Don't let these op mgrs and t/ms make up and enforce rules they create. Cut them off at the pass.

GBO SVCD has been there since day one (1990-91), started as a driver and moved up through the ranks. Therfore he has a strong backing from Corporate. If anyone were to call Corporate on something like this it would be eventual career *******.

How could a svcd that was a driver in the past, ever think that going against seniority would be the least confusing option. Open line all day long from everyone.

Sounds like this terminal manager (svcd) has had the Averitt blood transfusion. This is what Open Line is for. If it's ******* then you don't want to work there anyway. With almost 20 years at Averitt in my past, I am SO SO SO glad I am not there anymore.

Central Dispatch rules trump local service center rules, call Mike F. Lifer is correct ,that is company policy just as he explained. Don't be scared, print this rule, show it to him and explain this is policy and he refuses to follow it you will call HR either with him on a conference call or without.
