ABF | ABF background check

In my experience most of the safety maggots have been former truck drivers. I know that A. Doggy Pyle's current guy was but I do not know how prevalent that is elsewhere in the industry today. ABF used to have a retired NYS Trooper for our region but he got the company :2437:a few years ago. I do not know the current guy's background.
Ours is retired from psp his name is mike hogan he don't seem like a bad guy. He just repeats what they tell him to go over with us....

Then they fire you for not wearing the proper uniform. Don't get mad get even. Next time they force you to drive a piece of crap, bring along a tube of valve grinding compound, squeeze said tube in to oil filler neck, & flush said tube with a quart of oil. Be sure to bring food, drinks & toilet articles. You might be somewhere for quite a while till the wrecker shows up. One more thing, there will be no rebuilding this block, unless they still put liners in the cylinder walls. Besides, doesn't ABF need to replace most of there fleet? 900,00 to a million miles on a city truck can get expensive being in the repair shop more than on the street. In fact you might be doing them a favor by saving them money. Just a thought. von.
I take you know nothing about diesel engines. They all have liners.

I know now. But, I did know the compressors for the ice floor for the Coliseum in Indy were built in 1935 & until 4 years ago they were rebuilt every year with liners. Just didn't know they were lined in motors for semis.

Good conversation. But I had a comment on the background check issue.

A truck driver can lose their license for a DUI in their own personal vehicle or while boating or snowmobiling, and/or has trouble getting a job or keeping their job over the DUI.

Does a doctor lose his license for a DUI on his own personal time?
Does a lawyer lose his license to practice law for a DUI on his own time?
So why the hell does a truck driver get punished for the rest of their career for something that they did on their own time.
:cuss:

'A Doggy Pyle'... That's frickin' hilarious! I wish we had those guys here out West...I could have fun with that name.

The sad part is that they used to be a Union carrier, .......until management buffaloed them into a de-certification vote,......probably a good 25 years ago.

Now no one working there can remember when it used to be Union. Got rid of all those guys.........in spite of their de-certification vote.

I don't know when it happened but I'm guessing 30 years or more. The story I got was the Doggy didn't like the pension fund and saw it as a problem in the future so he would not agree to a contract with it in it. A strike ensued and the workers weren't participating in it.

When you get old, all time is a blur.........'79 or '80,.,.....why that was just yesterday.......Let me go take some pills,....or some Geritol.....
