Looking in from the outside, I'm curious to find out what you guys think is the cause... YouTube, politics, etc. We see gun violence up here too, but no where near what you guys deal with.
The average inner city American has very little value on life. They have been raised with violence and unnecessary killings all around them. It becomes "normal" for them. It has come to the point where if they feel "dissed" {disrespected}, that person's "street cred" {credibility on the street} is in jeopardy, and since they feel that only the strong survive, they have to protect their reputation at all cost. They feel that they need to be known as a bad ass so that people will leave them alone. Then mix in the drugs, alcohol, and crime since they are desperate to survive, and more often than not, the violence makes it to the evening news.
Sad but true.
YouTube allows them to gain street cred by putting their bad ass ways on display.
Politicians often rabble rouse these folks to get their support.
**** poor public education plays a huge part.
Being raised on the streets, with no male role model, and usually just a mother that they see once in a while.
Video games make this type of behavior seem normal, and doesn't tie the real life consequences and the personal responsibility together. Even after they have been arrested for the crime, many of them think that their actions were justified.
