Central Transport | Question to all...

Or he's bumped the back of his head under Matty desk:1sm057crazy:or being more productive out on the lot adding new duck tape to the equipment :438:

This is one of my favorite YouTubes.

I have been on vacation. I did not know you would be so mad when I don't post. I am new to the boards and did not kno I would cause so much fuss by makin a positive post for my job.

This video is ridiculous. I have worked for compnies with trucks like this and r not DOT legal and I refused to drive them. I have not seen anything like this at central in my terminal. this is just another driver issue tho. I don't know anyone that would be willing to drive trucks like in the video and if they did they r the reason central has a bad rep. I honestly do not have any issues here other than normal things like wanting a shorter day sometime instead of work 10 to 12 all the time. I have no sympathy for the guy who posted the vid and his terminal. that is just poor choices by them in making there truck look that bad. central did not put the garbage in the truck or not wipe down the dash or make them drive the truck. jobs r always open and they let a lazy boss put there job in jeopardy. my boss and my coworkers keep r trucks clean and the shop will fix what we need or get us a diff truck to drive to get parts for mine.

Insurance I think is dependent on where you live. It's useless up by me. Good luck getting a hold of anyone there.

Web site? Someone want to point me to it because in several years here, I've never found it. And I've looked!

Freight is slow at all the carriers right now, and the big boys have lowered rates to stay busy, so our volume has tanked, aside from Amazon.

We run '15 Freightliners by us, but maintenance has been abysmal. 2 oil changes in the 157k miles since we got it. Plus, last oil change, when my Linehaul slip seat picked it up, it was making a nasty clunk from the transmission as you drive down the road. Basically, he and I were told to run it until it blows. To Eaton's credit, the thing keeps trucking along day and night. Whatever is is internal, but seems to be holding.

The current wave of getting rid of central dispatch and moving to local is causing some fantastic fights between local and corporate. Can't wait until this is all over.

Truthfully, the biggest reason I'm still here is because with the seniority I have, I always work. Anyplace else that would be an improvement wants me to start as a casual right now, and that won't fly with a family to feed.

The website I use to access network info is below.i talked in a erlier post about how it is MultiPlan that provide network coverage. I did no this until my boss told me and I don't have issue anymore. hope this helps u.

You seem to misread things, I do not get mad when someone doesn't post. What tickles me about you is how you pose as a driver but are most likely a manager. I like how you degrade your English and grammar as time goes on to try and make yourself sound like driver when in reality what you are doing is displaying what you think of drivers. You obviously view drivers as a group who are notoriously incapable of speaking and writing intelligible English and you are trying to make yourself fit in. Like Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor in that prison scene in 'Stir Crazy'. I do not feel insulted that you view us in that manner, all you do is reinforce my opinion of how managers in this business view drivers. You obviously think we're a bunch of illiterate imbeciles. Furthermore, what you are doing reflects poorly on your company. You should take cruise around these boards a while and see who is posting here and how they carry themselves. To my knowledge none of the other companies, none of the respectable companies have managers here acting like you.

Yeah mark s you say you just started working at CT and already taking vacation they stole vacation from me when they got Vitran you can say what you want about CT there the end of the line ltl carry error and just like abf we said your management not a driver :busted:

Mark S - This is why I've limited my involvmnet on this board, anytime we post anything positive about our company these guys jump on board to dispel anything good about Central or swear up and down we must be mgmt. I thought this would be more educated discussions but the only thing that goes on here is childs play. if I post "man I love my new pete" someone will post a snarky remark about Central followed by the same 10 guys over and over posting "Yeah yeah Matty Sucks, hahahaha LOL" or "have you seen that video". Not worth my time right now.

These boards are tools. They can be as useful and educational as you make them. Any time you post is an opportunity to shape the conversation.

There have been multiple times in this thread where someone has asked for proof of some of the great things you and others talked about ( like healthcare websites )

You can get upset and "limit your involvement" but remember Central Transport has a long record of negative bs ( a lot of it posted on here ) and your testimony alone ( if you are a real driver ) won't change Central Transport's reputation overnight. It took years to get this bad and it will take years of doing the right thing to fix.

Also I think you are forgetting that some of us worked there. I worked there for 2 years and that was prior to the purchase of Vitran. I experienced it first hand. Horrible insurance, terminals that need to be condemned, shop that doesn't have adequate supplies or enough mechanics, no OT till 55 and treated like a dog. The only thing that is consistent at CT is change. I've always said that. You think things are good now, wait 6 months it will change. Back to dock work, you're new Pete will break down and will sit for 6 months before getting fixed. You don't realize how bad it is untill you leave and work for a real LTL company. Centralized rep is horrible, and new Petes won't change that.

Well, as a bonus, central dispatch is sort of going away. Local managers are doing dispatch in most centers.

Well, I say that, except the leftovers keep taking back control and overriding stuff just to **** the locals off. Luckily, those dipshits are all on the way out the door over there except a couple who are going to be doing large terminals only.

The rest, well, business as usual. Maybe even worse right now while we go through whatever "restructuring " they've got going on.

Truthfully, not holding my breath.

I remember the first time a CT driver told me about how all the city dispatching was done from one place in Michigan. What kind of braindead genius thought up that concept? Nothing like having someone dispatching you who has never even been to your state, and has no idea where anything is.

I am starting to feel the same way. I got picked out because in some posts I use my computer and spell check and others I use my cell phone and do not. That means I am a boss that is trying dumb down and that is how I feel about doing the same job I am now. Apparently that person feels this way about drivers. I also said I was new to these boards, which apparently means new to the company and my vacation was not valid.

I understand CT has had a bad rep. I have heard complaints from a lot of people and have seen some of it but now that positive things are happening and we are moving forward we want others to see it. We have some slugs working here and we want more good drivers to see what we are doing and come join our team to continue what we are doing. I can say I am proud to work at CT now and that it was worth going through the changes. I am sorry for all those that did not get to see it as well and that they will always have an issue with us here. Thanks for the positive comments tlandry90.

I have posted on here multiple times how the insurance works because I had a lot of issues when I first got it. I would not post a copy of my bill either like you keep asking for. I do not want to black out my bill. I save mine for quite a while so I would not be doing that and I do not believe anyone else would either. I would be glad to answer all questions and provide info to anyone looking for it. To make it easy so you do not need to go back and look for my old posts. I put the info below again.

Cherokee is a small company and they use Multiplan as their discount provider. This is a national company that provides the in network doctors and clinics. Looking at their website on the About Us page now they have almost 900,000 healthcare providers under contract and an estimated 68 million consumers accessing their network of products. That does not seem like a company that would be terrible. If you walk in asking if people take Cherokee the answer is no. If you go in saying you have Multiplan and show them the card most will say it is accepted. I have not been anywhere that was not in network.

I have a question for the CT drivers defending the company and speaking out about the positive changes. I admit that I started seeing shiny new trucks, even here in Canada, like Freightliner Cascadias with LED headlights. It's kinda surprised me, to be honest, that suddenly CT is turning itself upside down and inside out. Their latest ads out of Toronto suggest they're actually paying above average for the region.

So tell me, from an objective point of view, what changes you're seeing and if you'd recommend giving CT a chance to a newcomer. I'm genuinely curious because it does legitimately look like they are trying to dig themselves out of their bottom feeder reputation.

The Cascadias were purchased a couple years ago and now the company has also been putting money into buying the 2017 Petes. I know at my terminal we had our yard completely redone and new cement put in, the parking lot was freshly done too, and our wages have been increased twice in the last 3 years. I know this company has had a bad rep across the board but I have seen a lot of positives since I started with the company and believe the company is going to prove themselves to be stronger than much of the competition in the end. Central is by no means free of issues as no employer will ever be but I do believe it is a great place to work new or old in the business. I have seen 5 of my fellow drivers quit here in the last few months and all but one have come back asking to get their job back. It is easy to look at a company and judge them on what others say happened years ago but this company has come far and I am proud to work here.

If your proud to work there that's all that matters. Maybe Matty and his son have changed. I will give them the benefit of a doubt. The next few years will tell. As they say, the proof is in the pudding.
