Yellow | 90 days til pension is due....what trick do they have up there sleeve...Any thoughts?

I very much doubt there will be any more give backs if the rank and file Teamsters have any say in it!!

I was down at the hall today, & our president & BA both said that YRC has officially asked the Teamsters for a deferment from the January re-entry into the pension fund. Like anyone is going to vote yes on that.

Abf is paying in along with all the smaller trucking companies out there who are Teamsters. Poor Managment at YRCW. And after that last giveback they gave that one exec like an $800,000 bonus if he'd stay and then he left. what a slap in the face. So it will be NO on this ballot if they even have the nerve to ask. I cannot believe the pension funds would agree to another deferrment? Guess we shall see...soon

My concern is that YRC national operated at a 95.5 last quarter and the company as a whole lost 9 million dollars. 95.5 Is a very good operating ratio- as a matter of fact it's better than Con-Way's O/R for last quarter. I obviously want my pension contributions and wages back, but I wonder where are they going to get that money from? Add 30 million a month in pension expense and they would've lost 99 million last quarter. I want to wind the clock back a few years, but that's not going to happen..............

And what was their feelings on the issue?

That if it means YRC closing down, there would be no choice. They were stressing that the economy has taken another downturn, hurting freight volumes, blah blah blah. When I asked them if that was true, why are all the other freight companies hiring like crazy right now, they said that it was in anticipation of YRC shutting down. I told them good luck on getting that vote, I'm staying at my new nonunion job. Then they had the nerve to ask me if I ever thought about getting a union where I'm working now. Yeah, sure. I'll get right on that one....not.

cdlguy, statements like that just show you how much these guys are out of touch with the rank and file in the freight division. More give backs ain't happening this time.

Everyone knows that poc company will get the deferment and then some. I don't know whos milking it more, I'd have to say the stank union. This lame company is going to close, period. Look at the bill count, it hasn't gone up since the daily numbers have been posted but the stank union and company tell you the customers are returning in droves and most believe it:duh: while its right there in black and white that they're liars.
So why don't you 85% that are going to vote yes for anything they want just turn your pants around and start wearing them back a$$ backwards with the zipper where it should be to make it easier for the stank company and union to rob you. Thats how its going to be, I know, you know it, the American people know. Have a great weekend!

My prediction

The last concession vote was 58% in favor. My prediction is that the company will throw a bone, a 5% increase with no pension contribution. It will barely pass. Soon later many people who were on the fence on whether to retire will retire or risk loosing the PEER 80.

Why don't you "guys" who think the company has money to burn during this recession get other jobs and never look back at YRC?

I'll vote YES for another pension deferment in a heartbeat to make sure this company rides out the recession.

Turbo you are wrong. I was always known as MR.ROADWAY! DO1 Roadteam always involved. I voted yes 2x. I'm like the rest of our brothers and sisters not stupid! I will vote NO! The funds are all CRITICAL! even if they start paying now it is probaly to late. had 1 yr. to go but now raising age etc I and most of us will never see it! Let's get on with our lives. I will ride it to the end in hopes though. Sorry just being honest with my thoughts.

MY Guess

My guess is they will try and go the route they went with Red Star. Some how, some way they will try to get the teamsters to go on strike, then claim unrecoverable financial losses(no matter how short the strike is) pay the top execs their bonuses.................... then claim the have nothing left for the rank and file. Because they sold off all the properties, and the $$$$ making logistics, etc. They all suck azzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!:wtflol:

According to Zacks, as of January 1st 2011 YRC will owe the pension fund $300 million, YRC has to trade shares in lew of paying cash on interest payments to their lenders now,($20-$25 million payment) how will they pay back $300 million? That is just pension debt on top of all their other debt. No real property, no assets how do they pay it back?

even money says they resume pension payments

stay healthy..it's a long way off

My guess is that there will be some kind of pension payments which will be offset with changes in work rules that they feel costs them money.

This work rule bull$hit is just that.

It's just the excuse that low level supervisors put out to their bosses for why things don't get done. It gives them an out for poor planning.

Blame it on the men.

Upper management finds this easy to believe because they think that lower level sups are implementing upper managements master plans.

When I was at the hall, they also said they think that YRC is aiming to keep it a small company, with Holland being the big survivor. They said they are seeing freight being diverted over to Holland. Gee, isn't that where they just took on laid off YRC drivers at starting pay??

I think that the Union better be careful giving in on all of our work rules. Many people are already wondering what value the Union is to us. Giving in on our work rules would only make more people question the Union's value.
