I'm on my last week with my trainer and he seems like I can do the job but he tells me if he thinks I'm not safe on the road I won't pass the training. But at orientation they told us that they will give you 2 extra weeks to get you more training in. Could someone make sense of all this. I can drive and do the job for the most part, but I mess up a little here and there, but no big problems. Don't the trainers expect students to mess up from time to time?

depending on how you drive, depends on your future. if the trainer cannot take a nap (if at anytime he is allowed to run as a team) while you are driving, he will deem you unsafe. you may get another 2 weeks, with another trainer, but repeat the same crap, and you are history for sure.

you need to be wide awake, and focused on your driving, no distractions at all, with your trainer, and hopefully, when you are on your own.

you "mes up a little here and there, but no big problems"..???

that IS a problem. do trainers "expect" newbies to "muck up"..?? depends on the muck up YOU are doing.....!!!!!

if you cannot learn and real fast from your mistakes, you are gone, short and simple.

demonstrate that you HAVE LEARNED from your mistakes. repeating them spells things to the trainer, you just ain't worth the insurance claims........

trainers have a job to do..some are very good at it, some are seeing only the extra money they get for hap-hazard training, and could care less.

apparently, Averitt, wants only the best of the best, and frankly, i applaud that philosophy, 1000%......

The first year is always the worst, a lot to learn. Not to mention they are constantly changing the rules as we go along. On the trainer topic alot of those guys are "know it all" control freaks. How much can you learn from someone who has not conquered their own hygiene in 50 years?

Drake L., WELCOME ABOARD!!

Give this forum a go as it is AVERITT!

You may well receive ACCURATE INFORMATION from a direct source (not the c.b., truckslop or restaurant).
I'm just offering a alternate route to your destination.:6788::6799:

pro1driver = if you cannot learn and real fast from your mistakes, you are gone, short and simple.
MY mistake was getting into trucking yet I've dealt with it and still driving.:grouphug:

CHEERS!!

From what I've seen before I retired from Averitt Truckload you'll be OK ....Most of their trainers are only interested in turning miles and the bonus. You end up going to their BACKING SCHOOL!!!!!
