ODFL | shooting at old dominion in Jacksonville

That is terrible.I often wonder why more stuff like this dont happen at LTL,s....A high strung "bossman" and a high strung disgruntled current or former employee is the recipe for stupidity...

I see it as a testament to the sanity of drivers for all we have to tolerate. Thus far there seems to be no suspect, not a driver, not an enemy, nada. Sad story condolences to his family and friends.

This is so sad I really feel so bad for the family ...Place of work is a place of work not for this. Why has it become of so many bad people think they can just take someone's life for any reason. I was told he was the Term manger as well as a Dad a Husband and a Grandfather..My prayers go out to all of them.. Again I'm so sorry for there lost.

It's just a place to work, but so many hang out infront of the office creating drama or gossiping about others. Need to just stick to yourself, grab your paycheck and go home. Everyone caring what someone else is doing and then gets so rear end hurt if they don't get to do the same.

I do not know how Marty was to work with everyday or what brought on this horrible event, I did however talk to him on the phone asking if he had a LH opening for a good friend of mine. He didn't seem rushed and was very nice to me. I am a proud gun rights /owner and wish he would have been armed so at least he might have had a chance. Per company rules you can be armed in your personal vehicle. I wish they would take on a "Don't ask don't tell" policy for drivers in company trucks.

We got signs saying no guns even in our employee parking lot with right to search your vehicle. Can't protect yourself anywhere these days.

That's federal law territory
Your badly mistaken. This has been told so much that most people believe it. Unless you have been trained and studied the laws for yourself like I have you believe what your told. I have carried in the past with other companies and YES been checked by the DOT roadside and scale house inspections. I had my weapon and my conceal carry permit. They asked where my weapon was, some asked what kind and all told me to leave it were it was. Call your local Highway Patrol and DOT for yourself and ask. My old company didn't ask and i didn't tell even though i was told by dispatchers if i didn't feel safe somewhere then protect myself. 70% of drivers at my old company have carried with a legal permit for years. Do not argue with me on this please unless you can show me in writing the law that says it is illegal to carry with a permit in a commercial vehicle.

You are correct, it is not against federal law, however if your state does not have reciprocity ( as it applies to cwc) with the state where you are you are in violation, unless it is legal to open carry.

As Bird stated, there is no law that states you can't carry a weapon in a CMV in a state that allows concealed carry or any state that has reciprocity with that state as long as you have a valid CWP issued by one of the reciprocal states. The rumors have ran rampant on this issue and they are completely false. I've carried for years and have been checked as required by law at many weigh stations across this country in the years since I acquired my CWP. I would advise anyone who would dispute these facts to not only not believe me, but look into it for yourselves, so as to no longer spread false information concerning the issue. I'd like to see a broader ability for those of us who have been trained in firearms use and safety to have the ability to carry while on duty at O.D. considering the recent events in JAX. We, at this point, have no idea why the T.M. was gunned down and assume that information will come to the surface in the coming days. Until then, just like the firearms thing, it's speculation and we see what that leads to with the firearm in a CMV issue. Patience friends.
