Holland | turning trucks up

I didn't say all of them were running 70.
Trust me......there are guys laughing right now reading this, because they have one. Each time it happened, I would be like ":wtflol:"? "That guy must have some connections".
:biglaugh:

If one of Holland's Farmalls is running 70 there is only 2 logical explanations :

1. Driver had it turned up
2. It is about ready to blow up

Drove one for 9 yrs., showed 64 on speedo but only actually ran 62. Uphill, downhill, around corners.....62. The best feature of those trucks is black electrical tape fit perfectly in the dash recess to cover warning lights like tractor ABS, trailer ABS, and check engine light.
It's like the panel was designed especially for the tape.

Team Wong- BRG, doing 72mph, westbound from Cleveland , headed to KC!!!!

Yep , the good old Holland days of the Sterling good fast trucks , hook up the jumper wire & hammer down , but just don't forget to take em off before getting out for the day !! have had a few Volvo's & Farmall's that would get out & run the fast lane , but think that Laptop computer truck stop guy turned em up for $100. bucks ??? :bananapartyhat:

Couple summers ago I was in Birmingham and my 28 had regen problems so they gave me the ugliest old Yellow piece of junk bent up and dented and dash rattling junk. Hopped on 65 north and stuffed it to the floor and the speedometer stopped at 58...crap. All of a sudden I realized that I was starting to fly by everyone....all I needed was some chicken lights and I would have been a big rigger. I don't know how fast I was going I would have to guess about 80 I don't think I got passed by anyone all the way to Wisconsin. By the middle of the week a city guy had written it up and it went 63 and the speedo was fixed. It was one fun ride from Alabama to Wisconsin though!

Been hearing we have anywhere from 150 to 240 loads a night sitting in system , they can't move so why would the company turn up the trucks to move more loads ??????

They would have more drivers if they would pull their heads out of their............sand.

After reading that a (TB) friend of mine had "thrown in the towel", I did a little investigating to see if what is being said on here is true. And I found out for myself that it is the truth.

While other companies are starting drivers out at over $21.00 per hour, and in several cases there are companies paying veteran drivers over $23.00 per hour the minute they walk in the door, all while Holland is starting veteran drivers and greenhorns out at about $18.00 hour, is it any wonder why nobody will apply?

It's obvious that moving freight is not a priority.

I think the Health Insurance would offset that to a degree if our pension wasn't going to be gone in ten years. 22 guys went through orientation in Indianapolis this week, 13 road and 9 city, so they are finding a few suckers. I was told by one of the guys in the class that there were several drivers with very little experience and one of them said he had been driving less than two months.

Yeah these new guys are giving us a bad name going thru the NC Gorge I-40. One had traffic backed up headed towards Asheville tues. Radio goin crazy bout slow ass HOLLAND holding them up. One guy come back said can't be true HOLLAND holding up traffic. There usually the ones running the front door in the left lane thru here lmao.

They are hiring fresh out of truck driving schools.

The veteran drivers go elsewhere for more money. Get used to the equipment getting beat up by the greenhorns and seeing your equipment on the evening news. Money talks, b.s. walks. They will never learn.

Not arguing that fact, but I can't think of one LTL that doesn't hire from a driving school, or have their own program for training of some kind.

It's the way it is now, although our equipment and consessions like many have pointed to don't help the matter. Very few want to drive truck anymore anywhere. And many who think they do, exit the industry before a year.

It's the only place Holland can play super trucker with a 63 mph truck.

Doubt the trucks are going to be turned up. Just came down the wire today that we are no longer allowed to run more than 653 miles a night. Which IMHO, that plenty of miles in one night anyway.
