Heard a city driver out of Norwalk terminal got popped for talking on a handset and not a bluetooth. He got fined $2500 and the company got fined $10K. The driver's out of this barn are saying he's still going to keep his job..........go figure? I wonder what the CSA points are for this one?

The only way the company will get fined is if they EXPLICITLY allow the employee to use the handheld device while driving. In the employee handbook it says the use of electronic devices is prohibited so the company will not be fined, the company will get CSA points however.

Don't believe everything you hear...
I would like to hear more on this if it is available. ABF once earned a large OSHA fine for not actively forcing forklift drivers to use their seat belts. Company policies and signs on the walls were insufficient in the eyes of OSHA, they should have been taking disciplinary action for failure to use them.
