ABF | abf road driver bids

I like coffee you can chew .......that comes out of the percolator in lumps.......

They don't let me make coffee here at the terminal anymore......They found me filling the basket up to the top with grounds and leveling it off.......... Everyone was wondering why even the urinal smelled like coffee.......
Filling it to the top? What Ivy League School did you attend for Coffee Making 101?

It's 90 degrees over here in W.Pa.......and I'm here on my lunch break.......drinking a hot cuppa coffee.......
I am sitting in my office typing this message. Inside temp 73 degrees with 38% humidity, sipping from my 30oz Yeti tumbler filled half way with pea ice ( a little bigger than a BB) & the other half with Gatorade. No on board EOBR tracking my eating habits or how far back I recline my Lazy Boy. What was it Jackie Gleason used to say? 'How sweet it is' von.

Now that's what I call coffee! I love it when the pot is empty in dispatch, I can make it and actually get a decent cup for the road.

I make it the way I like it. Good'n'strong......gotta scrape the last cup out with a spoon..........You won't need eyelids for at least 24 hours........
You won't need taste buds either! That's the kind of coffee that tastes like jet fuel and makes you feel like you're literally burning the midnight oil.

But then, who doesn't like a coffee that won't keep them wide awake? Drink deep and think about the beer at the end of the day.

Well i just got the call for drug and road test, i guess i better enjoy the next couple weeks of normalness before the craziness begins lol. I was told this terminal is looking for 20 road drivers so hopefully il get some drivers under me.

They might hire 20, but no vacation for 2 years will scare
off 10. Then when the phone doesn't ring because the outside carriers took the loads, the others will leave. Run RUN I say as far from this as possible

Past practice shows that 3/4 's of the people they hire don't stay. Road is a different kind of animal. Waiting 2 or 3 days for the phone to rnig usually after being up for 20 hours. Don't know what terminal you are at but our bottom 5 guys only get 2 or 3 trips because the outside carriers take the freight. If you can live with that, have at it .this is not the same place it was 5 years ago. Find a job with normal hours and a normal schedule. You will be better off in the long run

Yea i do agree the schedule kinda blows, but i was always under the impression abf was a great company to work for. Maybe i have some more thinking to do. Not sure if your familiar with the south Chicago terminal but thats where id be.

Don't listen to him. ABF is a great company. It has one of the lowest turnovers of any trucking company in the industry.
WAS is the key word....
"Was" is correct and you will get to make your own decision on whether or not to stay. I suggest looking into chemical companies, many of them offer better work hours and equal or better pay. It is true that ABF has one of the lowest turnover rates in the industry BUT anymore we all hear and know of guys who have left for other jobs, previously that was totally unheard of and the only reason a driver left ABF was to retire. The times they are a changing.

That is absolutely true.
