Hi, everyone. Can all the professional truck drivers on here tell me, from their own experience, what are the best trucking companies to work for? When I say "best" trucking companies to work for, I am talking about the pay (either weekly pay or mileage pay), benefits (medical, dental, 401(k), paid vacation, etc.), equipment driven (late-model?), and home time.

Please tell me the name of the trucking companies and not just "this one trucking company I worked for...".

Please tell me how long you worked for that trucking company or how long you have been working for that trucking company if you are still with them.

What are the worst trucking companies you've worked for? Please tell me the names of the trucking companies, how long you worked for them, and why they were the worst.

Thanks.

the best (so far) trucking company to work for, is the one i got hurt at (now 2 years ago, and am still out of work.

dedicated account, salary, home every weekend, and all holidays.

wish i hadn't gotten hurt, i'd still be there.

worst...??

they all are, until you get to work for "the best"...

It would be too harass to say worst but the less preferred one for me personally is Grimes while my experience with Status Transportation, WW Trucking is best

GREETINGS,

Worked about 4 months in 1999 at Bulldog Hiway Express (North Charleston, SC) and they were no problem other than REQUIRING TARPS ON ALL LOADS (except where tarps were not applicable). Check them out if you want Flatbed (Skateboard), Step Deck, Drop Deck, Extend Deck. They DO pay well loaded/empty.

Concord Logistics(Concord, NC), worked there 3 months after their 1 week orientation.
Wife worked there too, in another truck.
Wanted me to perform magic as a Solo by giving team runs.

Worked at P.T.L. (Murray, KY) thru a Owner Op about 8 months in 2002 and they treated "Lease On" as they did their Company Drivers, nothing special.
Hurry, hurry, go, go, go then stop, Park The Load and Pass The Load to a team.
It wasn't fun and one was required to go to either N.Y.C. or (The Windy) Chicago, so I went to The Windy.

DART Transit (Eagan, MN), Owner Op company. The "adVANtage" is to not become a O.O. and sign on.
Drivers that drove for O. O.'s were not treated better....or worse.

I've only pulled Flatbed (45', 48', 53', spread axle) and Dry Van (48', 53').
I've pulled Reefer yet only short LOCAL hauls.

There are MANY DRIVERS that have lists of the best and worst companies yet those lists are THEIRS (like this post offers of my list) either through EXPERIENCE or other.

Whatever company you end up starting at may well become the BEST or WORST and that decision is YOURS.
Whatever you do, whoever you go with, DO NOT JUMP AROUND.
Do YOUR BEST to get 1-2 years (2 is best) THEN look around.
NEVER, EVER fall for the HYPE of a Lease To Own "plan".
There are countless Drivers that fell into such trap and regretted ever doing so. Be not another.
Get at least 2 years Experience BEFORE considering a Owner Op plan, unless of course you're WELL FINANCED.

There have been (and probably still are) Drivers at Werner, Swift, J.B. Hunt, PAM, USA Truck, U.S. Xpress, Covenant, Celadon, Schneider, C.R. England, Navajo Express, Barr-Nunn, Transport America to name a few, that started at one company and continued to retirement.
There are countless Drivers that started and started and started and either gave up or found a company to call home or for a while till their here became another there.

BE WELL, STAY HEALTHY, BE AWARE (BEWARE) OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS, DON'T FEED THE BEARS, NO LOT LIZARDS.

Thanks, Cerberus, you were extremely helpful. Would it be okay if I quoted part of your reply in an article about the top trucking companies with the best truck driving jobs on my truck driving information resource website? The only part I would be quoting is this part:

"There are MANY DRIVERS that have lists of the best and worst companies yet those lists are THEIRS (like this post offers of my list) either through EXPERIENCE or other.

Would that be okay with you?

I'd say all major ltl = best
Nearly all truckload carriers with the exception of Wally world = worst

My brother works for US Xpress and really enjoys it. They helped him out as a student and he's into the miles and routes that he has recieved so far.
