We at 050 are set to go completely to the use of electronic time clocks Monday. Up to now we have been paid on the paper cards. On the time clock there is a "time card" option but its not active. I was just wondering if anyone out there is on the system and if that option is active for you? We need folks to be able to check their hours. Maybe it can be done in the ELD? I haven't poked around to see if I can see previous days. Plus the dock guys need to be able to check their times as well.

Same as you, we are starting on Monday going paperless. The only thing that has been said about it so far is to make sure that when we punch in, we need to swipe for each duty.. if city driver, select city, dock, select dock, etc.

We don't have the system yet at our terminal as road guys but you can print your daily log to a fax number or a e-mail address as what i've been told by a city guy at our terminal. They are still paid by clock punches so take that with a grain of salt. Don't know if that helps or not but it would be nice to check to see if your getting paid correctly.

Once you start you will able to go to atwork.com and see your hours. We started this week on it and my hours are already on the website.

Article 26, section 1 says "The employer may substitute updated time recording equipment for time cards and time sheets. However, a paper trail shall be maintained". Putting the information on line is not maintaining a paper trail.

I'm sure they would argue that printing it out is a paper trail.
And it would be best if the "time card" button already on the time clock would work.

I do not know if it was put on the website daily or not. I did not check on it daily. I do know that it was there on Friday for each day.

Road and UE should still be punching the "In and Out " sheet to maintain the paper trail for foreign power coming into your jurisdiction.

I'd recommend punching a blank sheet of paper to keep track of your own hours.

10 years ago I wouldn't have thought it ethically possible at ABF,..........but in the past , certain unethical companies used to "shave" 5 or 10 minutes a day per man...........times how many employees.......

Fairly large savings on Labor costs overall......

Just enough to give the junior executive who thought up the scheme a bonus......

We had a case where the dispatcher used to round down if we punched out 1, 2 or even 3 minutes after the hour/half hour. Ironically he never rounded up when we punched out a minute or three when we punched out before the hour/half hour. And he thought nobody would notice. :hilarious:

When I hear something like, "A paper trail shall be maintained", I interpret it as a time clock punch on a piece of paper, all physical, something that is not easily altered, not printing out an electronic database.

Printing it out of an electronic database invalidates the reason for a paper trail specifically because it can be electronically altered. If someone's job rested on the validity of electronically maintained records, as opposed to manual records, which one would the arbitrator allow?

We dealt with these same issues at YRC with the electronic time clock. Company has a stock pile of time cards it wants to get rid of so swipe with the card and then time punch the time card.
I am the biggest rebel out there when changes are made in favor for management tactics. I don't like the fact that a TM can access it and make changes or adjust times without your knowledge (integrity check????). You mark off for an excused unpaid day and they burn one of your vacation days without your approval....

You got to watch those who watch us, cause if you don't they will nickel and dime you to death pay wise. I got grievances in that can give member access to monitor his vaycay and sick days as well as your time at YRC.

Talk about stealing time, there should be language about penalty pay when it is discovered that the "company is stealing time from the members"

Should be an immediate discharge for any of management caught altering timecards without the employees knowledge or consent.

They require honesty and loyalty upward.......how about a little of the same downward.

You already know the answer to that it was an honest mistake don't you make a mistake once in a while?

Yeah,.......it seems to me that I've heard that...."excuse"........from management at least a couple of hundred times now.......

How about if we write management a "warning letter".....everytime they make a "mistake"?

Honest management starts from the top,.......and until our management finally comes out and admits they used tricks, lies, and deception in our last contract negotiations,.......I'm going to look at everything they tell me with the proverbial jaundiced eye.......
