Not sure Griz, haven't seen any of the guys at work so probably. I'll find out more Monday. Somethings going on. One of the stewards told me that a few of the guys had work comp issues. they came back to work and then couldn't pass the physical. I've heard that there are no more temporary cards being issued as rodeo mentioned above. I heard we did stop sending people to the clinic that was flunking everyone, but that was the one that I had particularly good luck with. I guess the new standard is to that there is no standard. It's however the doc wants to interpret the rules. I think the FMCSA wants obesity/ age rules and wants your family doc out of the picture. There is also a new rule being implemented regarding medications. The DOT doc will decide if your dosages/ combinations are correct. That's according to the latest issue LAND LINE magazine.Blood pressure seems to be the kicker down here. A lot of White Coat syndrome. Skullcramp are they taking failed physicals out of service?
I seen a letter posted on the board that said there will be no extensions for a failed blood pressure test. I think they use to give you a 45 day extension to see your family Dr to get it under control. no more extension
You should not have to. I'm sure that there is a history of pinning guys on the dock when they could not pass their physical for some reason. In fact, there is a member here, active in the YRC forum who is just that.I guess my question is are you required to have a dot card to work the dock?
I guess my question is are you required to have a dot card to work the dock? We also received a verbal warning letter Friday for not having the tanker endorsement on our license. This is for hauling tote bends of haz.
All of the guys that I know of who lost their DOT card and/or their Haz Mat card were expired, were NOT offered dock work. They were taken out of service completely.I guess my question is are you required to have a dot card to work the dock? We also received a verbal warning letter Friday for not having the tanker endorsement on our license. This is for hauling tote bends of haz.
We've had guys doing dock work here in MI. How it works is you're penciled in at the bottom, either inbound or outbound/closing shift. You can work until you're forced out on a run. If no one covers you, (takes the run for you) you get sent home. We've got a lot of meesters here so sometimes a guy gets to work only to be sent home an hour later. "are you going to take the run so joe can stay? nah I don't want to go there I'll stay on the dock F*&& joe he can go home" I'm on a yard bid so I can't go out until all the dock/drive guys go out. goofy system but that's how it works here. I now return the thread to its rightful owners
But if you don't have the card you will be paid like a casualYou don't need a medical card to work the dock, they do not require the 4 hr casuals to have one.
