FedEx Freight | The Union Debate Thread

"Getting away with murder" as in not doing their jobs or what's expected of them and getting away with it in relation to the company not disciplining them. Not exactly the leverage they need when most are tired of carrying their weight!! Kinda hard to gain support/leverage that way don't you think??

Sorry but there are way more of those people on your side. They don't want the union because they will no longer get special treatment.

I'd rather work a guy who's out early then the guy who clocks in and takes forever to get hooked and out the gate. He'll be the one calling dispatch for help and the guy who left early will be the sap that has to help him.
Stop and think for just a moment.
What if you have an accident ?
The attorneys will have a field day with you and the fact that you were working for free.
Must be nice to write your own start time and paycheck .

You didn't say he wasn't clocked in. You said he left before his start time. Two very different things.

You have repeatedly, for the last two years, contradicted yourself with whether you're for or against....guess it depends on the situation. You haven't "proven" anyone wrong, your opinion isn't fact...your actions are.

Yeah Red, that is me. A walking contradiction:idunno:. How about if you show the class one example of me being against, or unsupportive of the effort (hint, you'll need to go WAY back). Go find it.

In return, I'll show you an example of you proven wrong. I'll go 1st, starting in chronological order, with the low hanging fruit.

It's obvious you're not a FXF employee, why are you even on this thread, just curious?

Then the reply:

"I hate to make you look foolish in front of your peers, but I like Facts, and you asked for it:"

Oh wait, that must just be another opinion, presented as fact.:36:

Speaking of going waaaay back....

I'm quite busy today so it may be awhile before I respond, soooo many post to comb through, but I will respond eventually..

It probably is a little different. We have start times but if your loaded you can punch in early and get your day going at OD. Was the same when I worked at FedEx but I know the rules aren't the same at every service center. No-one should be working of the clock for free. Kinda counterproductive as to why you go to work I would say.

After taking a short break from my busy day, it only took me about 15 mins to dig up this gem of a contradiction...

You claimed in OCT, 2014...

The safest thing to do is sign a card, and file a petition! And then, the safest thing to do, when possible, is vote yes, IMHO.

Then in Jan, 2015 you respond to Purple Hammer with this contradiction...

"You'd be surprised, Hammer, just how pro-FedEx I am, and can be."

Now, how can one advocate the signing of a card, filing a of petition and voting yes because in their "honest opinion" it's the "safest thing to do", then proclaim we'd be surprised at just how pro-FedEx one would claim themselves to be??

Contradiction: the statement of a position opposite to one already made

Excellent effort, and a great conversation you found. :1036316054:

Certainly you didn't think it would be that easy. Did you? The target in your search was, one example of me being against, or unsupportive of the effort. The example provided shows neither. Pro company doesn't have to equal anti-Union, or vise versa.:nono h4h:

Actually, your example is not even a contradiction. When lists were being compiled, I said many times, I should be on the pro company list, as well as the pro union list. Seems pretty consistent.
Don't give up though. There must be something out there... :smilie93c peelout:

Yeah, whatever!! I see CT has now taught you how to backpedal too!!

There are only two sides, pro-company or pro-union, and you claimed to Hammer to be, and I quote, "You'd be surprised just how pro-FedEx (pro-company) I am, and can be." How can one be "surprisingly" pro-company and be for or supportive of the union??

I claimed you have been contradicting yourself for the last two years, you asked for an example and I provided an example. Then I provided the definition for contradiction, no detailed criteria needed.

Don't get me wrong, I believe we are the same, Pro-Swampratt/Pro-Redracer, the difference is you've tried to play both sides, or whichever side you believe at the moment will provide you with the best means to an end...hence the accusation and proof of you being contradicting...you can't be both!!

:hopelessness: Let's review.

I can certainly be pro Company as well as pro Union. I witnessed the gradual destruction of the most solid company I ever worked for. I made every effort along the way to sound the alarm, going through the proper channels, at every opportunity. No different than I do today. The culture was no longer interested in listening. Research showed that Union representation provided the only viable option available to bring back the elements lost, while providing hope for a voice at the table. Other voices, far stronger than mine, agreed.

Do I really need to type the rest of the story?

No need for any stories, yawn...again, you're either pro-union or pro-company, you can't be both.

When I went in to vote, the ballot only had two options...YES or NO, FOR or AGAINST, PRO-UNION or PRO-COMPANY!! If you vote both your ballot is thrown out, period, you can't be both.

To claim to be both is not only contradicting, it's borderline disingenuous.

Rather than play both sides, the truth is, I've probably been a thorn in the side, (a pest) to both sides... All in an effort to improve the situation for us, the drivers, which long term, benefits the Company too.

Now who is changing the topic. You have successfully carried this nonsense on, and on, and on...

Simple Definition of obsession
1: a state in which someone thinks about someone or something constantly or frequently especially in a way that is not normal

Full Definition of obsession

1: a persistent disturbing preoccupation with an often unreasonable idea or feeling; broadly: compelling motivation <an obsession with profits>
2: something that causes an obsession

Good Night Red...

I accused you of being contradicting, I provided an example, I provided the definition, and I successfully defended my statement!!
Then YOU change the topic to obsession...

If I were you, I'd go to bed too!!

Why can't you be pro-union and pro-company, I always was?
