TForce | UPS/YRC merger

Rumors can also be very hurtful.

K.Kid Thanks for the tip,I went to the YRC forum & read the article.
True enough this is a printed document about a merger.
However I looked up the author who turns out is speculating on how UPS could benefit from it.

Now to find the source of the authors thoughts would be interesting.
Could he have gotten his ideas from YRC corporate?
I doubt it would have been from UPS,as there were no rumors, only facts published when they purchased Overnite.

He did mention a spike in the YRC stock price,if that is his source of information, wouldn't it be considered insider trading?
As wouldn't we all hurry up & purchase as much YRC stock as we could afford,to profit on a merger.

Even after reading the sticky on the YRC forum I'm still skeptical, that UPS is planing on a purchase.

I don't know, stranger things have happened. Commercial Lovelace Trucking purchased Leeway. Eastern and Associated transport. PIE and Transcon. Not to forget the Big R Yellow story with Holland. You put UPS freight together with YRC, just think about that blanket coverage with UPS management. You can forget about the pension liabilities, if UPS wanted to do it, it would be done. There is a global force working on this industry. Things are changing at a record pace. Equipment shortages and driver shortages. Why shucks there is even a shortage of rumors.

My thoughts would be that ups buys abf after the contract is settled. We have the upack business that makes a ton of money. And a added bonus to there portfolio. Plus we have Revenue over 2 Billion dollars. That would make ups the leader in all the transportation markets.

Might be right that would keep all the contractors busy...

I'd like to see UPS (UPS Freight) buy YRCW or ABF. UPS Freight needs to move from 4th to 1st to remain competitive.

My opinion I really don't think UPS wants to deal with the National Master Freight Agreement contract & pension issues.

A reliable source, companies waiting for Teamsters president election, highly easier with Hoffa winning. Zuckerman winning may mean a delay or drop in negotiations between the companies...
:poke:

Dues paying members pay the salaries of those officials in the video operating the union.
However those officials were not going to address a hand full of dues payers.
The only way you can get their attention, is to move to replace them with officials that care about the ones paying their salary.
From the tone of this video,it looks like the folks at the top feel comfortable, where they may not care a whole lot about those they represent.

Word on the street is that if Zukerman wins, his first stop is an ass kicking at SOH. Can't wait for that to happen......If I survive a few more weeks on the dock
This election will be like all the rest that Jimmy Jr. has been in: nobody votes for him and he wins with 65% of the vote. ZukeRyan will never be allowed to win.

I liked TDU's Tom Leedham & Sandy Pope in 2006,I thought they had a good chance to take the election.
However it didn't happen, every 5 years,no matter who runs against Mr.Hoffa,he has always won.
Anyone think it will be any different this time?
So far he won in 1998 over Ron Cary, was re-elected in 2001,2006,& 2011.
However he is 75 years old,so another 5 year term he will be 80,thats when he may take his golden parachute & some one else will take over.

I thought he already took his golden chute years ago, and was just cruising along now struggling to get by on the interest it earns ?
