We all know it's hard enough to get miles at times as an extraboard driver. With contractors, large number of drivers, and the favoritism it is difficult at times. Now, we need to include scheduled drivers too. Some are taking freight away from extraboard drivers to supplement their lack of miles in the run that they bid on. Scheduled drivers know absolutely the amount of miles in that run. Now taking away from extraboard is simply not right.

I know it really doesn't matter to central because they got the freight moved. Although, it screwed a driver out of miles.
 
You can take my ever increasing Chicago tour. Nothing like bouncing around from one ::shit:: hole Chicago place to another. 22 miles and 2 hours of non driving work. 42 miles another 2 hours... under 300 mile days lasting 11 hours is getting old
 
How many times have I heard xtra board guys cry about short hopping to move freight while scheduled drivers beg for it. Schedule drivers are not your worst enemy, you are!

Legitimate complaint,imo.As a scheduled driver,I have had my run cut on Mondays a time or two,but somehow weekend volunteers somehow got work going to the same place as my schedule..I feel your pain but that's the way the ball bounces sometimes.
 
Let's break down his post. He blames everyone else for not getting miles. I know for a fact there are xtra board guys getting killer miles. He would call them favorites. Has he ever thought why they are favorites? He feels he's entitled to freight and that's what his post reveals. He wants to regulate everyone else so he can have it his way.

I'm gonna say...YES, I'm new here....and YES, I do whatever is told....but NO, by NO MEANS am I a 'favorite', but I've ALMOST...and I mean ALMOST done everything there is to be done here......filled in for P and D TWICE now, after I started rolling to wherever....haven't done combo, yet....then again....watch THAT happen to me, next! haha I'm getting pretty good iles....now my schedule is COMPLETELY messed up.....ya gotta 'adjust' the best you can to it......BEST ADVICE! But, I've run into ALOT of guys now that are being this way. And I think it's funny when they say LOUDER AND LOUDER about how long they've been there, yada, yada, like the dispatch person at that terminal can do anything! lol

Sorry brother but that's the way extra board goes. It was especially hard for us during the recession. But you just have to be patient. Hope your luck changes soon.
 
honestly, I like extra board. Not doing the same run day in and day out. You have a very strong point...maybe one day I'll do the schedule thing....a9faninnc has more experience under his belt than I do(both here and industry-wise)....but I'm still new to trucking...coming up to 5 years....still have ALOT I want to see, and I can see that here. As far as most of the US. I have been to CA,OR,AZ...I know I won't get out there, being in NC....but still....I love 'the adventure'. Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!
