They say old souls never die. They reincarnate. They reincarnate because what they believed in is just and right and cannot be denied nor ignored no matter what vile forces are arrayed against them. Ghandi knew this. It is a universal axiom of the human spirit to prevail against tyranny so long as they enjoy the freedom to exercise that right. We have waited for someone to recognize the plight of the working man and woman in America for an agonizingly long time. Last night I saw a man who was unafraid to stand up to the globalist trash that has been working the global plantation like Simon Legree to further their elitist agenda. It has been a long time since the democratic party has been a friend of the working class American, and we all intuitively sense that. Trump may not have the soul of James R. Hoffa,or Mahatma Ghandi, but let's all pray he has the heart.

We made a choice as a nation to decide what will be more important going forward.......People, or Business.....

Apparently, we've chosen Business.

The two bills in committee concerning Pension reform........are now dead. You'll never see pension reform.

Curious to see what Republicans replace Obamacare with........or even if they bother to replace it with anything..........

Insurance companies regarded Obamacare as an impediment to profit , and wanted it gone. Got their wish.

Mr. Pence's personal pet project of a National Right to Work law, modeled on the one he established in Indiana will certainly be at the top of the agenda. I can't see anything in that, that will be good for Unions or working people in general.

Most of the misery in rural America has been caused by business moving away to cheaper Third World countries, and technology advancing to where people aren't needed..........not the EPA.

So they remove the EPA and still take jobs out of rural America ........or use their future tax breaks to buy technology to eliminate those jobs completely...... I don't see the misery index getting any better......... I see more people applying for welfare to get that so-called "free ride"........ because there ain't no jobs.

I guess we'll have to wait and see whether this government will rise to its noblest instincts........or will payback time to the lobbyists occur.....

As always, there is much merit to what you say. Unfortunately we don't get to line item veto our leaders' agendas and we have some tough issues on the table right now. I am not so sure that there was going to be any help with pension reform but yes there is now less of a likelihood that we will get it. But then maybe we will get something better than what currently lies ahead, let's do our best to get what we can.

At this point in time I am immensely disenfranchised with our sorry excuse for a union and I see national right to work not quite as bad as I used to. Why should we be forced to pay for something that is less than adequate? IMO it should provide incentive for those schmucks to represent us or we'll revoke their paychecks if we can't get rid of them.

And the EPA is one ingredient in the recipe that chokes prosperity here, not saying that it's bad, just that it is what it is. Look at the air quality in China and Taiwan, our newest factory towns. They halted industrial production so they could have clean air to breathe during the Olympics. Additionally, we still sit on an incredible amount of gold in AK, which we are no longer to extract because of its impact on the ground in which it lies and I don't quite get this one. AK is loaded with gold flakes that lie on top of the bedrock about 30' down. To extract it they used to take a dredge, dig it out and sluice it, then put the 'dirt' back. The process turns the 'dirt' upside down and that is deemed harmful in some way. Let me tell you, that 'dirt' ain't much no matter how you cut it and vegetation grows back anyway....Just one unnecessary restriction on prosperity IMO.

I'll reply to this because I agree with everything else. If the government is to be involved in health care they should be regulating the providers, If I go for an x-ray and tell them I'll pay cash it's 1500.00, if I have insurance the insurance company gets billed 100.00. That is where the problem is IMO. It is very easy for me to say this because I will never have to burdened with trying to find affordable insurance, so I'll hide under my chair while everybody throws stones.

Well,.....I've heard mixed things about that. I've talked to a number of retirees who were grateful they did not have to take COBRA insurance from their employer when they retired. Getting ready to retire myself, and on the Affordable Care website, I've come up with some very affordable prices, based on income.

Two of my four children were young enough to take advantage of staying on my health care until they got jobs out of college at age 26. My two oldest were cut off of my insurance during their senior years at age 23,....... prior to the Affordable Care Act being passed.

Those affected by the rate increase were those above the income subsidy level, not on their employers healthcare. As the subsidy level was below $60,000,....this was a very small group of people. Besides, the insurance companies needed no help on raising their rates,.....they did that on their own.......for profit.

Well when people aren't allowed to shop around and more insurance companies getting out of offering for those who choose the ACA insurance they can charge what they want with no repercussions. Also didn't you hear that the insurance company's said that the folks that choose ACA where sicker than they thought.
We both know that it's BS, but they believe that people will believe anything their told, just like most politicians do.
I don't necessarily belive that government should be involved in insurance, but something has to be done to try and reign in the insurance and medical costs, but I really have no idea how that can be accomplished without government oversight and I don't think anyone really wants that.

Unfortunately, that's the only answer. The original problem with healthcare was providers themselves.........doctors , hospitals.......raising prices unconciably. Then insurance companies stepped in a nd created HMO's .......and promised to reign in those "greedy doctors" by managing your healthcare like a business.

About 20 years ago the dialogue about how autocratic and profit-driven the "healthcare" insurance companies had become.....got really intense. They had become far worse than those "greedy" doctors.

Insurance companies have the largest group of lobbyists on K Street in D.C. They finance many political campaigns with an understanding that they will do business as they wish..........and that healthcare is not a basic human right, like it is in all other countries.

We just watched the insurance companies win again.........Big time.

This is also the only nation where your "healthcare" is tied to your employer. They love that , because it creates a quiet and subservient workforce.,......afraid to lose their healthcare. Insurance companies love it too, ..captive market.....

Of course they want to keep government out of it..........they can run it like a profit-and-loss business.......and worry about the financial health of your wallet......and if you lose that.....they can "slice" you off as a bad financial investment....now go and apply for government assistance..........

But if you think that healthcare is a basic human right......then being subject to a system of laws , advocacy and fairness.....means you must have government oversight.......

Unfortunately the propaganda machine has convinced everyone that ......our...... government is Incompetent in everything they touch.....

Except for the military.....I guess..

And if anyone does the same thing that is not a lobbyist then they get charged with bribery. Anytime someone goes to Washington dead broke and comes out a multi-millionaire they have done nothing but be paid off, but as long as it comes from some lobby in the form of "campaign contributions" it's "legal".

That is why in my opinion we need term limits for Congress and call a bribe what it actually is.

Well.........it looks like that might be the first broken campaign promise. Sen. Mitch McConnell was interviewed yesterday about various camping promises made, and when asked specifically about term limits, he told the interviewer in his words, term limits were a " non-starter", as far as he was concerned.

Sit back with arms folded. Anger, emotion and outrage are never a good thing to carry into a voting booth........

Term limits are nothing but a pipe dream by us outsiders and anyone who thinks that it will happen is a pipe dreamer. Asking them to vote themselves a sunset on their jobs would be like...well...asking us to vote ourselves a pay cut.

The only way we'd do that is if we were tricked into it........

And do you have some sort of plan into tricking them into term limits? If you do I'm all ears.
Executive order. Then let the Supreme Court decided or congress to squash it. Then it's congresses fault and Trump can blame them for blocking it. Pass the buck. At least he'll try. Better than any other president that ignores the problem.

I like the idea but I'm not so sure I do like the idea...That would be a good one for a grand finale but it would pretty much screw up any working relationships between him and them. :idunno:

Well he could save it for his grand finale and end these 30 year streaks of lifetime house and senate seats. A good 4 years could whip up another honest set of people running and change things for the better. The norm has been killing this country. Wishful thinking I know, but it's the only chance we have had for strengthening this country in a long time. CNN is already hammering everything he has said. Even the LGBT things, and he seems to be alright with that with the exception of the bathroom , I'm fine with the gay thing as long as it's not shoved down our throats. I don't expect he is going to get everything by a long shot but at least someone is breaking this total sell out mentality our representatives have been throwing at us. Again this is just my opinion and I've been wrong at least 1 time in my life! Lol. Have a good weekend guys.

While he's at it,.....make all campaigns publicly funded. Both candidates get the same amount of money,..........felony if outside money is used.

The amount of money spent on political campaigns by corporations is obscene......and has skyrocketed since Citizens United. Since , apparently, corporations love spending money during election season,.......tax 'em all 5 per cent, and tell them not to spend another cent on any candidate........or the CEO goes to jail.

That 5 per cent ought to be enough to publicly fund even Presidential elections........and would allow people whose ideas are great........but their wallet not so great........to put their arguments out to the public and debate them.

Can you imagine actually debating the issues?

And ,....I say this as a Union PAC fund treasurer,......knowing that Unions would be assessed 5 per cent too.

Level the playing field.....

I can see self reliance isn't something you're good at. Why should someone who's never received a pension be forced to pay for yours? Where in the Constitution does it guarantee someone health insurance? Why should someone be forced to join an organization that they disagree with because it's morally bankrupt?
