Holland | Plenty of money

Ya the red skids that come in all different sizes/shapes with some loose stuff to go along. That's a good chunk of work for everybody.

Getting 17 hours OT a week easy while passing on extra work.
I remember back in the early '70's when the Teamsters were still a "brotherhood". Back then I was working night outbound dock at All American Fright Lines (MSP). Whenever we had people laid off, we refused all overtime until those that were laid off were called back. Not anymore now though. It's all "dog eat dog" - take all the OT you can - screw the junior guys that are laid off.

What good does all this O.T. do you when you are never home and when you die, they don't throw all that O.T. cash in the casket with you !! Hoffa & CSPF keeps it and has a big union convention out in Vegas with your O.T. money and your pension money paid in under your name that's NOT yours when you die !! B.S. ponzi scam pension fund !!

Question: The OT talk kind of made me think of it. At my barn the city dock guys that have later start times can be forced to work 14 until the dock is clear. The other night I was at a foreign terminal and the guys hit ten hours and made a run for the punch clock and left with a mess on the dock. What is the normal and why is it different at different barns?

Cause Each Barn has there own set of silly rules for the Good Old Boys Club , but most barns are if you are not on the closing shift ,you can leave on your 10th hr , unless the dispatcher hates you and keeps you out 12-14 hrs and close shift has to say till hell freezes over ! but they really is no good bids because the early bids they just keep you out longer and late shift is always short handed and yes dispatch has it's brown nosier pets that get what ever run they want daily !!

Are there terminals with guys laid off?

I heard a rumor that they laid off thirty guys Friday from the road board, the rumor I heard was three from Decatur and I don't know where the rest were from. But they are still hiring at other barns, we had a new driver out with the mentor this week starting on road next week.

We are hiring anything with a heartbeat. And they have a posting asking linehaul drivers if they want a day off due to lack of freight.

I agree with what your talking about. We got tons of casuals and not a guy on layoff at our barn.

Well I'm currently watching NFL RedZone on a brand new 65 inch 4k Sony with Klipsch audio system going on a brand new sectional with beer and pizza going so that's what the OT is doing for me.
