Yellow | FIRE AWAY, YOUR THOUGHTS.

My thought is to shut down, log off Betsy, & insert myself in to my Lazy Boy Recliner (named after my work ethic), cover up with my Lands End light weight thermal blanket, pushing back on the arm rests resulting in a almost horizontal position while watching college football. AH, the life of retirement. How sweet it is von.
You forgot the cold beer and hot pretzels, with salt of coarse.

Now on to the Chevy Volt. We did not subsidize the volt, however Obama did give the battery maker money to build a factory. GM had the choice of hiring a US battery maker or a Korean one. They chose the Korean company. Nice thank you for the US taxpayers, huh? Obama gave them 2.4 billion from the stimulus. Hell, I could build firebombs for a hell of a lot less. Some empty ketchup bottles, a buck worth of gas and an old rag and viola! Total cost to date 33.036 billion.

Last but not least how much did we lose on our 50% stake? We have already sold some at a loss and we must sell the remainder at 55 dollars a share to break even. The current price of GM stock is 22 dollars a share. That means if we were to sell our 500 million shares, we would lose 16.5 billion dollars. That makes a grand total of 49.536 billion. 536 million more than we gave them.

And how did GM show their appreciation? The decided to build a brand new 540 million dollar engine plant that would hire 500 workers……in Mexico. Then they packed up some of their parts plants and moved them to China. Don’t you just want to give Obama a big hug?

Just like we loved the higher pension payouts over the years (and didn't look behind the curtain) we love the lower prices for goods (and aren't looking behind the curtain).

How bout a little loyalty to GM, Ford, and Chrysler, or have we already forgotten their contribution in helping defeat ಠ▄ಠ in WWll which was the greatest threat in the history of humanity.

Everyone in the country that was worth a damn banned together in ww11.
Here is some news about their contribution from the other side of the fence.

When considering what kind of car to buy, one should consider what both GM and Ford contributed to our country as we fought for our lives and to defend our country in WWII. Let's do Ford first, since this is a Ford forum. Ford converted its factories to the production of bombers and tanks for our troops. On the other hand, Ford owned three plants in Germany. When the war broke out, Ford cut all ties with those plants, which produced trucks, armored cars, and tanks for ಠ▄ಠ, using slave labor. By some estimates, Ford plants produced up to 10% of ಠ▄ಠ's trucks and armored vehicles using slave labor. At the end of the war, Ford went back to Germany and repatriated every dime of profit that its three plants made during the war. In other words Ford helped ಠ▄ಠ kill Americans by keeping his army in business, while exploiting slave labor. A class action lawsuit was filed against Ford in 1988 by a group of former slave laborers from Russia, Poland, Hungary, and France, to get paid for forced labor building Ford trucks for ಠ▄ಠ. Yes, indeed, what could be more patriotic than buying a Ford? You can enjoy the freedoms earned by the men who were not killed by equipment built by Ford for ಠ▄ಠ, and show your appreciation by purchasing a Ford. You can easily research the results of the class action action suit by the former slave laborers on the internet. Most of them are dead now, but their lawsuit is a matter of public record. Be patriotic, just like Ford was, and buy a Ford.

And Chevy...

Now lets do GM. General Motors, like Ford, converted production of cars to production of war materials, without which we would not have been equipped to fight WWII. GM also built replacement parts for German Army vehicles, and sold them, allegedly, to Switzerland. How convenient. Switzerland has a long border with Germany and was a neutral country, with no need for replacement parts for tanks, bombers, fighters, and trucks. As the 8th Air Force and British Bomber Command obliterated German war plants, the need for replacement parts grew exponentially. So did the profits from those parts, which were manufactured by GM in Detroit, sold, allegedly, to a company based in Switzerland, which was a front for the German government. The parts were trucked across the border, and, according to an estimate by the Wall Street Journal, kept ಠ▄ಠ in business for about a year longer than he would have stayed in business without those desperately needed replacement parts. So General Motors, being a good, profit seeking corporate citizen, played both ends by making millions off the U.S. Government by building war production, and millions more off ಠ▄ಠ by selling him replacement parts that he could not get anywhere else, at an immense profit, paid, of course, in Gold. From Jews gold teeth out of Auschwitz and other gold ransacked from all over Europe. After all, GM knew Germany was going to lose, so they would take payment ONLY in gold, or in Swiss Francs. Now how can a corporation this ruthlessly efficient be facing bankruptcy? Or is that just another corporate/government scam. I report, you decide. Research this info in the Wall Street Journal, which carried the whole sordid tale a few years back. Oh, and don't forget to buy a GM vehicle. You ARE a loyal American, aren't you?

I am more concerned about present day loyalty.
How about UAW showing some loyalty to the next generation.
They voted in a contract that denies their children and grandchildren
a job like they enjoyed for decades. Damn near cut them in half.

They new somethings had to be done to compete. Rather than take cuts across the board
the greedy bastards passed the cuts on to their children.
Loyalty???? Ford and GM have plants in Mexico..where is their loyalty???

Whatever happened to that wonderful service based economy, I thought by now we'd all be standing in high cotton giving each other back rubs.

We used to know, but now, like the equipment, we're old, and we can't remember anymore.

And some of us cannot see very well either....I thought go green meant hook to green trailers?

The bailout of the auto industry was reported by the Treasury Department to cost taxpayers $79.7 billion, of which $70.4 billion was recovered.
is there a link provided that shows that? Just curious... I would rather see copies of the cancelled checks or money transfers before believing a government agency....

I'd rather give my money to a American company than give it Japan Korea or Germany.oops there your trade deficit

I absolutely believe in American loyalty.I love my country and will honor it to death.
It's a global market and everyone on this board buys products made overseas.
Unfortunately it's dog eat dog out here..people want their products for less and don't care where they buy it from.
I can't think of a retail store we can go to without supporting overseas markets..
Wal Mart, Home Depot, Kohl's, SAMs Club, Costco, Penny's, Sears ect. ect..
