FedEx Freight | Moving cross country. Do we have discounts on moving trucks?

Ice will pay the difference...:1036316054:

Hey dudes and dudettes! Just an update, IMO Budget is called that for a reason. Sure, I saved about 500 over U-haul, but I wouldn't expect the same level of service like I would from the top dog. I moved literally across country and and the new city is pretty cool, but the job is a freaking ball buster. An hour and a half of drive time and 8 hours on the dock in temps that are less than I'm accustomed.
Managment is wound up real tight and is more concerned with freight damages than they are with the overall efficancy of he flow of freight. They seem zero concerned with gate times which is in stark contrast to where I came from in the east coast.

Sooooo in summary:
Chicks are really freaking hot here
People are super cool and nice
Vast percentage use their turn signals
And it's F'n downright cold at night

One thing I learned while working at FedEx was to always ask a business if we got a discount. My apartment even gave me a discount for working for them.

I would think they would still discount a trailer for an employee to move. If not a contract load is still cheaper than a moving company. I was a biller for a few months and saw most come through for under $800 for an entire trailer.

Lube, how's it going so far? Are you running a lot? Is Ice a dockworker? Did RC lock both of you in an empty trailer???

Dude, now that you're in Cali there's a few things to remember...

Make sure those hot chicks are really chicks and not dudes dressed as chicks...
Most people are "super cool and nice" once they've had to many drags off of that now legal left handed cigarette...
Most are used to using those signals to avoid getting pulled over but now that marijuana is legal in Cali, get prepared to sit behind them at a stop sign while they wait for it to turn green...
and I see you've discovered another myth about Cali, it's not always "sunny California", it does get cold at night...

Well, yep, haven't had a day off yet and I did have to go over the pass once but it was only raining.
As for Dick? Well, let's just say I've grown eyes in the back of my head in case he tries to pull down the trailer door behind me and show me his thong.
Sincerely, -The new full time dock worker in SAC

The weather is actually a refreshing change from the sauna I came from. It's much easier to add a layer of clothing then it is to shed a layer of skin. I do hear people occasionally griping about CA being too Leftist and they'd like to leave. For me though, she's like a beatiful woman with mental problems and I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.
Havent been here long enough to check out the chick scene, but I'll be certain to do a tug check prior to any potential intimacy ;-)
