I have a collection of routing guides from the Northeast that is in pretty good condition. I am offering them free for the shipping charges, which should be $15.00 or less.

They range from late 1970's to 1993 or so, companies as follows:

A. Duie Pyle, 1984 and two with no dates
Van Brunt, no date
Big R 1993
CCX 1993
New Penn 1983
St. J's 1976
Ward date unknown
Preston one 1998 and one older with no date
APA no date
Holmes no date
Tose-Fowler no date
Vallerie 1986
Campbell's no date
Helms 1982

Yes, Sun Oil.

Sun also owned Milne out west, Standard down south, Jones Truck Lines midwest and for a while had a company called Scheduled Trucking. Scheduled used long haul owner ops (Billy Big Rigger outlaw type o/op's) to supposedly link all of the companies together. Scheduled did not work out well and closed up when Sun started using the rails instead. Milne folded first, then Jones fell, then Standard and lastly St. J died in June of '93.

If I remember right Sun called this system SunPath or something like that.

that is what i thought.

when i saw the list of companies, i really do remember Valerie, St. J., Branch, and a few others,. seems like my tiny state had them all.

i seemed to remember i was told by a trucker, way back when, that indeed, Sunoco, owned (at the very least) St. J.

my question(s) would be, did Sunoco always own them, or bought them out at a later time in St J's life..?????

did Sunoco sell them due to the deregulation days, or "other reasons"...

thanks in advance...!!!!!
 
When I worked for Saint Johnsbury in the mid 60's I thought they were owned by a holding company?

I used to have a bunch of those routing company guid books ABFer,but I tossed them out.
As when the companies went bankrupt they were pretty much worthless.
However after so many years have passed they may have been worth something?
However only to someone who might want them.

It appears as thought they are worthless and that nobody wants them. Not until after they've been thrown out anyway, we know how that goes.
 
I worked dock as well as P&D,for (15) union LTL's in & around a 5 county radius of Rochester,NY,but darn if I can remember them all?

However I'll give it a shot.#1) Eazor Express,#2)St.Johnsbury,#3)Roots Transport.#4)ARA Smith,#5)Carolina Express#6)Transcon.
#7)Motor Freight Express,#8)Branch Motor Lines,#9)Yellow,#10)Boss Linco,#11) Consolidated Freight ways,#12)Shays,#13)Roadway.
#14)Halls Motor Transit,#15)New Penn.& (1) none union Overnite,completing my 45 year trucking career with UPS Freight after the Overnite buy-out.
Wow I had to really put my thinking cap on to recall all of those companies.
The most time 18 &1/2 years #2 on the city list,at Halls till they closed their doors.
