Only cops and armored car drivers are allowed a handgun. AR-15's are allowed as restricted guns, for sporting and hunting use, but any other "sporter" military-style semiautomatic rifles are under the same prohibited permit as handguns.
We are allowed bolt-action rifles and pump-action shotguns under standard permit. But we don't have gun "rights". We require permission.
I guess you can stab and punch people - just not as much shooting like the US.
