im just out of greenville tech college and got my cdl looking to come aboard r and l in greenville sc do they hire newbies im willing to take more training if so if company policy also have all endorsements
 
TMULLER02 welcome to trucking boards. Good to have you along for the ride. I'm sure some of the R+L guys will be along shortly to answer your questions. They are a good bunch of guys that will fill ya in right.
 
I belive you need two years of driving:shrug: .... But things may have changed they hired two guys right out of school to run team out of KC to run west. Wonder what those guys will think when their chaining up to go down cabbage this winter..

P.S. Glad it's them and not me. The only thing I know about chains is bicycles have them:idiot: :Hooker-Cow:
 
Whats up Duck....

They might hire you TMULLER. You might have to work the dock and do linehaul work. Just depends on the needs of the Terminal.

We have a few guys that do dock work and drive. They are called combo drivers. They are paid dock wages till they are sent out on a linehaul run. They are not supposed to run in the city though.:Chef-Cowardee: :sleep:

That rumors been around for a long time... I don't see it happening. Why pay us big money to work the dock when they can pay a part timer half the pay with no benefits.. Also the company would be at a disadvantage most drivers (not all) have never worked on a dock.. :wink1:
 
Dose R&L hire Over the road drivers to do local work? Some companies are not to big on haven otr drivers do local work.
 
R+L will hire you with little or no experience ,you will however be classified as a Combo Driver meaning you will work the dock and then usually do a shorter Line-Haul run. They do this to help you get Driving experience ,I am not sure how long you are to do this before you will be able to change your classification to Driver.
My brother is doing this and was hired after having only 6 weeks driving experience.

I know at our Terminal they have ,I think it all depends on how comfortable the TM feels with your knowledge of the area . If you were thinking about it I would urge you to apply and ask Questions
 
I don't see why it would be a problem. We have quite a few guys that came off the road to run P&D. Some of them were even o/o when they came here.

Thanks.:1036316054: I'll check them out. What is typical the starting yearly salary for city/dock work? Do you guys stay busey through out the year?
