hey so does anyone else at any other terminal have had an all of a sudden jump in green writes up due to pre and post trip violations? My terminal I work out of has. I was told that 1st you get a white write up, 2nd is green, 3rd is 3 day suspension, 4th is 5 day suspension and 6 is termination. I am already on my 2nd write up. The next one will be 3 day suspension. Kinda harsh loosing 3 days pay all because I may hit the wrong button on accident. All this seems excessive when the fact is that d.o.t doesn't require any type of e-logs till the end of this 2017 year.

Big uptick in violations at my terminal, too.I find it hard to believe,so many drivers all of the sudden having brain farts regarding the e-logs.Sounds to me like maybe the rules got changed overnight, but someone forgot to tell the drivers. It,s a pretty simple concept, once you get in the groove of what was originally taught and trained.Dont understand the big rise in violations.

My guess is someone at your local terminal started to pay attention. To me it seems to be terminal by terminal.
Much like a lot of things here.

Peoplenet violations go to the regional safety directors.Terminals have no say in enforcement.
Yes my dispatcher that gave me a green told me that it was out of his hands and that they(safety) are the ones enforcing these violations. I guess this is what we get for getting.80 raises.

I work at a large terminal and their was quite a list of people with violations posted this past week.I find it hard to believe,so many people forgot how to use it over the holidays.

I think it is terminal to terminal. Couple of months ago we had drivers getting good written up for 1 point off of "over rpm" and "over idle". The write up was worded to let the driver know that he cost the company money in fuel.

Also, I was written up a couple of years ago for not doing a pre-trip. I know dam well I did it. I guess it just didn't go through. We're near an airport and have heard from other drivers that the airport sometimes interferes with the people net. Not sure if that's true. So since the write up I have been doing two pre-trips and 2 post trips in hopes that at least one will go through. Have not heard from anyone since!!!! I guess it's working!

It's best to make it a habit each and every time to click on view hours of service and hit day one and then hit details and make sure that the pre trip or post trip went through!!!! Also allow sufficient time after pre trip before driving . the people net backs up time 5 or 6 minutes and you must be ON DUTY for any pre or post trip. I am seeing write up"s at our barn also.

If we move truck before pre-trip it's a write up.

Yea, if you move the truck far enough to kick
The people net to driving that is true. On Duty ,then pre trip is the key to avoid a violation.

If we move the truck and it doesn't kick to driving we get written up. I was told even 5 ft and it's a write up.

Wow!! The Terminal Mgr means business. I would just do that then and verify that the pre trip is shown as I described in the previous post. This process seems to work for me. I
Have got in the habit of checking to be sure.

It seems we are living in a generation where typing the words, "Done!" Is much more important than doing the actual pre-trip.
I do know many rules go out the window when freight is heavy and they're hurting for drivers

As in the case of one of our drivers, he typed "Don" and was written up. The "E" was mistakenly not typed.

I'm so glad that this company is so focused on making sure we acknowledge the fact that we did a pre/post trip and make sure we type in correctly. Forget about getting out of the yard in a reasonable amount of time and getting the freight to the customer. The things they worry about is ridiculous to me sometimes

Oh yeah! Keeping in mind, this new breed are the ones that sit on he couch all day exploring the net and have never received a whooping from the schools or their parents. It's also the breed that received 5th place trophies thinking it's a good thing

Oh I get that but when they are writing people up and suspending them and up to termination and it isn't the "law" until the end of 2017...come on!

The new law may not take affect until 2017 but they want everybody doing it the correct way before then because before then its on you after that it's on you and them. In 2017 the DOT will be watching Estes as much as Estes watch's us.
