I know he is .. I'm just be facetious .
He's spot on.

Man, this thread is getting unreadable. You all gotta stop and think about what you are typing and posting. It's becoming a bunch of nonsense. People aren't even able to clearly understand what you are saying or why. Get it together.

You have to admit... the unions in Europe are far more different than here, as are working conditions.

Keep in mind how much more precarious their economies are too, like the Greece mess and Great Britain leaving the EU. And all those swell Nordic countries don't have near the number of citizens and they aren't global superpowers either.

The word on the street is that the Miami barn is in negotiations anyone hear how it's going? Its been 2 year since they voted the union. I heard through the grapevine that they, XPO and the union, have agreed on 4 things and one was that there would be hot water in the bathrooms.
Any one else have anything on this?

They got certified pretty quickly- they've been negotiating for almost 2 years.

If they've agreed on anything, that's the kind of thing it would be. If they had agreed on anything important, like pay or benefits, the union would be screaming it from the rooftops.

Someone mentioned earlier that they had agreed to 26 things, but interestingly enough wouldn't say what they are. I'd bet a lot of money that a pension, free healthcare and a pay raise aren't on the list.

No matter if you are pro union or anti union , wouldn't you want XPO to agree to yearly raises? ( from a driver's standpoint at least ) Honestly , it looks like you want to cut off your nose to spite your face.

Of course- who doesn't want more money? But if anyone thinks that the union is going to get that in a contract from XPO then they don't understand the process. The company has no legal obligation to do anything but talk and, more importantly, the union has no leverage to force XPO to sign a contract- so what I or anyone else would like in that contract is meaningless.

The barns that have voted yes are just going to languish in negotiations until they all retire or decertify. If anyone can give me a different scenario, I'd like to hear it.

Or we can keep talking about how much money Jacobs makes or share useless information about union busters. Keeps the mind off of the futility of it all, I suppose.

They can drag it out til federal mediator gets involved. Come on now tell the whole truth not just what you think sounds good to anti side.

Why would a mediator get involved? As long as XPO shows up for the meetings and reviews the union proposals, they are fulfilling their obligation under the law. Show me the law that gives a time limit or requires XPO to accept anything.

Maybe that's why Aurora and Philly ignored their complete disadvantage- because they believed the government was going to help out and be on their side against big bad XPO. Just like so many people think the government will save their pensions.

Hell of a gamble.

I think the only time the govt will get involved is if the service will disrupt services and safety of the US. Like was done with the air traffic controllers. A few barn not agreeing to term and walk out will not disrupt services.

Contract negotiations do take quiet some time. That being said if the union feels like the company isn't negotiating in good faith they ask the NLRB for assistance if the NLRB sides with the union then arbrtition begins.

OK, so what he said it basically comes down to a feeling. As long as each side negotiates in good faith this can go on for years. 2yrs and they agreed to have hot water in the bathrooms so 2yrs from now what other BS thing will be agreed? What brand soda machine in the breakroom.
