I still don't believe they would've closed the door if y'all voted no.Sorry, but yes there is a reason YRC is not paying full boat in to the pension. The current & former employees of YRC VOTED to take a cut in wages AND PENSION PAYMENTS by the company, so they could have the job they do today. Not all of them voted that way, but because of a lack of solidarity among the rank & file, there exists some unhappy campers. von.
And to some aspects there were some deceptions implemeneed in the subsequent MOUsActually Von there was solidarity, it just wasn't on the side you expected.

The first cut I can agree too. What I meant was the 14 extension I don't believe they would shut it down. Investors haven't got their money back yet. IMOI think the largest bluff in history happened the first year the rank & file voted for a pay cut. The voting rank & file failed to call YRC's bluff. It would have been nice to know what they were holding. But that was then. Now you are @ the table for the next YRC contract & they are saying give us more or we close. What do you do? Hold em or Fold em. No other choice. Do ya really want to know what kind of hand they are playing? Only 1 way to find out. von.

It's free money, why leave? It was the investment banks (the ones that were going to refinance the notes that were coming due) that set the conditions for YRCW. The financials were available for everyone to see and the IBT had financial people do that before they recommended approval of the MOU. For those that wanted to see YRCW close the doors I have a question - Why are you still here?
My final straw was when we voted yes the last time and within a month the top executives got that huge bonus. I could not stay.
I never worked for YRC. Except for the name on the door, it is all the same. Pick up freight & move it from point A to point B. We all do it pretty much the same way. With you guys you were screwed by bad decisions by management. Otherwise we all do about the same type & level of work. I was never under the gun to possibly vote yes or no to maybe close a company. But in the history of this union nobody ever gained back what they gave up. And all of those companies on give backs closed their doors. With ABF I expect to see ABF Freight division just a small shell of what it was in 5 years. 20% of the work force will be union, the rest just non-union. They are taking profits from ABF Freight & investing them in non-union companies. That is how we are being screwed by management. Just saying. von.Always amazes me the posts on here from people who never have worked for yrc telling everyone who still does work here what they should do, like calling their so called bluff about closing and such...
They have that right, the ones that wanted to work for less could've voted no and went to elsewhere as well. If you felt like the company need the money, the company could have set up an account for all those people to deposit their 15% into. All deposit would be kept confidential. Win win for everyone. It was the investment banks (the ones that were going to refinance the notes that were coming due) that set the conditions for YRCW. You should be a ******* crisis hotline counselor.I congratulate you on having the courage of your convictions and on leaving when you were not happy here.
Like you stated, Von. You were never under the gun to possibly vote yes, no, or maybe close... It puts a lot of pressure on people to vote one way, or the other, and hoping they made the right choice. The ones that have moved on,I say, good for them. The ones remaining probably are like myself in the 25 year plus in years of service, and are looking at starting over, probably with lower pay initially, out of pocket insurance costs, and may not work enough years at a new job for that companies pension to amount to much of anything. So they stay here, and hope for the best.I never worked for YRC. Except for the name on the door, it is all the same. Pick up freight & move it from point A to point B. I'll do it,Always amazes me the posts on here from people who never have worked for yrc telling everyone who still does work here what they should do, like calling their so called bluff about closing and such...
Trip,I'm not liking this,my neighborhood in lalaa land is growing rapidly, hahaDo you realize you make absolutely no sense? Think about it a little before you post next time. It might help.
PS - Nobody "wanted" to work for less. Thinking people "accepted" the cuts because it was very possibly the lesser of two evils, the other being closure.
People don't realize sometimes we make decisions, based on common sense,I'm not real happy about the situation, but damn sure beats the alternative, I'll take a little bit of something, rather than a whole lot of nothing and be able to cross that bridge again, closing the doors would benefit us how,Do you realize you make absolutely no sense?
