ABF | Road computers

You don't need to keep a paper log, but you should pull your total on duty hours from the ELD each day to keep your own recap to override the automatic 34hr reset that is programmed in. Otherwise you WILL find yourself in conflict with dispatch at some point when they try to force you out with insufficient hours based on your elog hours recap. Yes, it will happen. They will look up your hours on the computer while you are in bed and call with a dispatch that you can't do based on your true available hours. Some will love it, others not so much. The only way around this that I see will be to turn in a paper recap of hours at the end of each trip just like you do now. That will require you to pull your hours from the ELD each day and fill out a paper recap. The stewards will have to watch that everyone is playing by the same rules. The company and the DOT won't care.

You are the one that certifies your log when YOU push the button on THEIR machine.
No need to do any of this other ::shit:: ! Their computer is right under the dispatchers nose. Let them do what they are paid to do. If they screw up you get paid !

Why would one keep a paper log ?
If your on E log the DOT will go by the machine and if they don't jive ? Falsification and OS for 10 hours plus the ticket.
They say they're keeping them for themselves because they don't trust the computer. I would also think that they'd be smart enough to make sure they matched and would never show it to the D.O.T.

Time stamp it. Have dispatch initial it. CYA.

the ELD will always be according to DOT regs not abf rules. ABF will maintain its work rules.
iam4us is right dot rules count, not ABF! I may be wrong but I believe there's an extention until 12/18/2017 so I believe (and keep in mind i'm a city driver), that you can still keep your paper log and make a notation that thats your primary log on it during this learning period.I personally feel this system has way to many falsehoods in it.It's telling me i'm speeding when i'm nowhere near the speed limit,( it might be picking up the service road or ramps},but i'm sure it shows up as a violation on the printouts.it also scares the heck out of me,every time I go under or over a parkway and the warning alarms go off saying I'm on a restricted hwy.In NY your not allowed on the PKWYS .I could go on and on with the falsehoods , but really ,no-one other then us cares.Money and votes controls whats right and wrong!

Ya nailed this one. Always has been & always will be about the dollar. Only time it becomes about safety is when there is a accident, then they try to say it was preventable. A scam or racket by any definition. von.
