It seemed like it was only yesterday this outfit had the trashiest equipment on the highway, some of the lowest pay in the industry, borderline useless health insurance, amongst other things. It seemed like nearly overnight all the Sterlings were gone and almost a whole new fleet was on the road. Now I see they have BcBs insurance and p&d hourly rates that rival other major LTL's. I know it's a long shot but so was every major win from sports to politics this past season, anything is possible. Just some food for thought, could CT be the next big thing ?

It is intriguing, isn't it?

When I mentioned all of the issues from the recent past to a city driver for Central Transport when we happened to be at a customer waiting - he got defensive and upset ( borderline angry )!!!

I don't work there and don't know what it's like now , I only mentioned the past to ask him are some of the changes REAL and lasting. If so , I wish all of the CT drivers well and will refer newbies to them to get experience in LTL. They seem to have more relaxed hiring standards than the other LTL companies in my area.

i don't see things stay that way and they have annihilated the customer base scores of years with hideous service, not paying their claims, as well as you cannot speak to someone on the phone. i say this is flavor of the month at ct and as the old saying goes "you can't put lipstick on a pig".

No arc will buy you out and infect you with our cancer

CT has made several changes for the better. Drivers are a lot happier and insurance is accepted nationwide. Mr. Matt Maroun is driving this truck straight to the top. Trucks are being replaced every 3 years and over 2000 trailers have been purchased in the last year. Keep it going CT and Thank You.

What is the current mileage pay in the southeast? At Averitt we are at .53cpm

If I remember correctly, I could be wrong though. Flat rate to each terminal round trip, plus hrly for dock time. Could be different in the southeast.

That's how it was 7 years ago when I left. Things may have changed since then. Back then the flat rate worked out to about 31cpm.

:6788:cause ct hauls garbage or its garbage after:poster oops::poster stupid:Mr perfect you have to be in management

Maybe, but he's also wrong. It varies by terminal. Ours, top pay is $22 and if you figure out the per mile based on our turn, it's $0.467. So not even .47 per mile.

Sad considering we move a TON of freight, and all the carriers around us are stepping up.

We also seem to be getting all the back lot trailers, they won't do any maintenance on our tractors (14 and 15 Freights), and we get lied to on a regular basis.

How I've managed over 7 years here is beyond me, but I've quit being quite so picky on my job search. I was holding out for FedEx by my house, but now I'm looking at others, even if I have to retain my 150 mile round trip commute.

Well, I finally jumped ship. Best of luck to the guys who are staying, but I've had it with the trashed equipment. I don't know where all the new stuff is winding up, but it sure wasn't anywhere near our barn. We couldn't even get oil changes and inspections done.

Things at the new carrier are so much different. No angry chaos in the terminal, equipment that's taken care of, DIRECT FUGHIN' DEPOSIT, and the management treats drivers like an asset.

CT better get it together quick. They need to start by firing a bunch of people in the corporate office, and get rid of the crap trailers. That would be a start.

And, at least around me, they need to start paying a competitive wage. Right now, they're the lowest paid LTL that isn't a small regional, and even the one lower than CT is pretty close. Plus, they pay OT at 40.

I've never had a 2 week notice feel like it took a month to complete.

I had a great TM, and I wish him best of luck finding new drivers. He's fighting an uphill battle, and corporate is placing all the blame on him. Guy deserves better. I've watched the fights he's had, and even been a part of a few of them.
