some of you may have seen on tv commercials, a website called, DealDash.com.

it is an auction website.

i had been a customer of another auction site, UBid.com, but that basically sucks now, if you want something, you just as well end up paying near retail, rather than an auction price.

so anywho, for Schlitz and giggles, i checked out that DealDash website.

of course, it looks good on the surface, i went thru the website, looking for electronics, and lots of pc's are indeed available.

however, once you enter your information (for bidding)...the frigging haunt you with an incredible amount of emails..

i sent off a nasty email to customer support, telling them to effing shut down my account, and that they are indeed a haunt.

no more emails since then.

just a warning, if anyone out there, likes to find good deals on name brand items at lower prices.....

I had checked them out once. They wanted me to sign up before I could access their site and they wanted much payment (credit card number) info before my name. I stopped right there.

same here. i had to at least sign up. then they wanted MY credit card info, or pay pal..somehow, however i got around that, by just leaving, then going back, then i was able to sign in, THEN surf the sight.

i saw a lot of good stuff, but then i decided no, it was not for me..then the freaking emails poured in.......that was the END......

I also downloaded a app used for buying and selling cars. Literally, before the app was finished installing on my phone, I was bombarded with calls from sales people. I immeadiately uninstalled and blocked ALL the numbers that were calling.

I looked at DealDash too and ran when they wanted payment information already. I thought that they wanted me to deposit a retainer before I did anything. I pissed myself laughing at their commercials when one woman says how she won an ungodly number of auctions, I mean hundreds. I just pictured a hoarders' house. I don't know anybody who needs hundreds of things.

we have a warehouse club here, BJ's, and i belong to them. i was "just looking" for information regarding a new car. they only had about 2 dealers near me, on thier list...uh.....near me..???? like about 40 miles away EACH....

so i said screw it....don't ya know, i get bombarded with emails...from those 2 whopping 40 miles away dealers...... never give out my correct phone number.

i agree. sometimes i'd like to buy a "re-furbished pc", like from UBid..com...then when i get it, open it up, hop it up, then i got even a nicer pc..

i don't find too many of those "re-furbished" pc's anymore.

Yep. Now the manufacturer wants as much for a refurbished as they do a New one. Check out govdeals.com for auctions in your area. You bid online, but you have to pick it up or have someone pick it up and ship it to you. They have some of everything in there. I just stay within where I'm willing to drive to.

when i was buying "re-furbished" pc's, it was more of a hobby for me. buy'em. soup them up, resell to people i knew, not on Craig's List.

sometimes i'd "experiment" with these pc's as well, what would fit, what would work, what will fry......

i actually had fun, it was a hobby i loved doing.

but now, there just aren't really any more such pc's. oh, i can get nearly ALL the pc's i want from say Craigs List, but i want ALL the internals, not a brick inside, like a NY street salesman would sell...

Yep. When I was LTL'ing, I bought computers from Onslow Purchaseing Department in Jacksonville NC. At that time, a complete unit was 37.50. And the worked. Now they put them on govdeals.com. Usually bring 150.00 each now. I also got a lot of free pc's from Camp Lejeune. Those were the days.

i got a pallet's worth of free computers from a local college. problem here however, no HDD drives. everything was as old as God. so i'd stripe 'em down for the tiny nuts and bolts if nothing else. now i got so many tiny nuts and bolts and screws, i could build a super computer for NASA....

Lol. The ones I got from Camp Lejeune were missing the HHD.

I watch govdeals for parts for my F250 Super Doody with the highly coveted 7.3 in it. I got me a short bus with 130,000 miles with some parts missing for $450.00. I did well but I sort of wish that the injectors were still in it.

I purchased a new Epson all-in-one printer with their ink tanks at Sam's club.
The claim is the ink will last a year, you don't have to keep buying ink cartridges like the other brands.
It was such a good deal,my wife & I bought it,even though theres nothing wrong with the HP all-in-one I'm using now.

Well its been sitting in the box,so a guy from my church came over & helped me set it up yesterday.
I looked on my area Craigs list to place an ad to sell the HP.

I was blown away with all the used ones I saw, that were selling for 30 bucks or less.
My wife is going to have a yard sale this summer,so I'll sell it then.

Used computer equipment is hard to give away, let alone get money for it.

i had a former co-worker, that would buy a new printer, every time his needed ink. he felt the ink was too expensive and in fact it may have been, and the printers were nearly dirt cheap. he knew (at the time) i was looking for a new printer, as mine actually crapped out, he offered me a free one, any one, that he had, in his now jammed up closet.

for me, i buy the extra capacity inks that last longer, and i most certainly do not buy printers till they crap out, then i can toss them in the garbage.

i used to buy many re-furbished pc's on UBid.com. (i mentioned that earlier)

so i bought a real nice compaq desktop. got it, did nothing to it, re-sold it to my barber for the same money, making nothing...but that was ok, he wanted to get on the web..

he never did, he wanted ME to go over to his house and set it up for him, as he already had cable for the tv. he said it should take all of 5 minutes to connect it...yeah right.....

he used to brag and brag about how freaking smart his grandson was.....so i told him, "hey, you wanted a pc, i sold you mine, i will NEVER go over to your house to set it up, since you have such a brainiac grandson, call HIM to do it"

he never got on the web, he gave up the pc a few short years later..

it would have been worth no more than $10 to buy it back from him, had i made him an offer...as he paid me back then, $300., for then, a 6 month old desk top.

then i would have opened it up, stripped it out, and tossed it away.

https://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/gsaauctions/ I don't know if any guys hit this site for auction browsing, but I like it, it is Federal surplus from "all" Federal agencies, and is surplus available for sale from all 50 states, you can search by state or category much like gov-deals but not as much military, I've bought stuff through the site and it easy, I look at least once a day for stuff in my state and surrounding states, plus my state has it's own auction site with both live and online sales that I hit daily.

I'm thinking that maybe you should hook Magoo up with something, it looks like his system's down again...
