XPO and the Teamsters are likely to see more of each other. XPO's less-than-truckload (LTL) workers, virtually all of whom were former employees of Con-Way Freight, the LTL unit of parent Con-Way Inc. that XPO bought in September 2015, have voted to accept Teamster representation at terminals in Miami; North Haven, Conn.; and Philadelphia. XPO has accepted the election results in those cities, but there are no contracts in place at any of them. The Teamsters also won elections at facilities in Los Angeles; Laredo, Texas; and Aurora, Ill. a Chicago suburb; however, XPO has filed objections, and the results have yet to be certified. The company prevailed in petitions filed for representation in Birmingham, Ala., and West Chester, Pa., about 30 miles west of Philadelphia.
:bgroovy:

How do you organize a company when you have NO pension plan to offer them ? and plus as talking points do you tell XPO Driver's all the good things the union has done for YRCW Driver's ?? Like -15% payand lost weeks vacation time and pension fund going broke and -15% out of our April pay raise !! Damm them guys will be SIGN ME UP !!!:lmao:

The teamsters are a joke and any workers who know the truth will run. I am all for organizing, just not with this organization.
They certainly don't help anymore. More or less aggrevate the whole situation.

They might not be doing much for YRC but look at what they've done for ABF. After 2 years of service you get 1 week of vacation time. After you're there for 8 years you start getting 2 weeks of vacation time. Where else can you go and get a deal like that?
Seriously, FedEx Freight has 4 terminals that voted in the Teamsters over 2 years ago. They haven't de certified to this day. How bout they do something with that before they tell XPO drivers what they can do for them.

It was my choice to vote no in all the MOUs.I didn't see any bench marks for the company to follow to show improvements and to progressively percentage wise and incrementally recieve our pay back such as with ABF.It seems that the union gave YRCW an open checkbook. The company couldn't even honor a snap back in pay in March of 2015!!.They had to rush to the table a new mou and when it didn't pass legally the first time the scam vote came into effect.

Con-Job was created off the backs of the Consolidated Freightways Teamsters! When they were started as a regional carrier there was specific language in the National Master Freight Agreement prohibiting "double breasting" and this kept the regionals separate. The language in the contract disappeared. Con-Job connected the regionals and the death of Consoidated Freightways was set! Teamster families saw many hardships and their way of life was destroyed!!! The time for action has long passed as have many of these diehard Teamsters!! Ask yourself what is the one thing the union has to gain after everything else has been lost and taken away i.e. pension, pay, benefits, job protection..... DUES MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not to mention the union didn't consult with the effected employees of defunct CF if they wanted to settle the retirement payment from Conway companies for pennies on the dollar.I think it was settle at 10million.if I'm wrong correct me but that was a hell of alot less than what was actually owed

Not sure of the exact amount but it was no where near what they owed! The pension also wanted to treat the CF employees as orphans because of non-payment of withdrawal liability!

Con-way Inc. and the $26.8 billon Teamsters Central States, Southeast and Southwest Areas Pension Fund settled a dispute over an alleged $662 million in withdrawal liability from Consolidated Freightways Corp., a Con-way subsidiary spun off to stockholders in 1996, according to an SEC filing Dec. 31 by the San Mateo, Calif.-based company.

In the settlement, Con-way agreed to pay $8 million to the pension fund and assign any future proceeds from the Consolidated Freightways bankruptcy. In 2002, Consolidated Freightways filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and Con-way filed claims totaling $35.8 million, said Gary Frantz, Con-way director of communications.

Word from the last 745 meeting was that a several month effort to collect cards at FedEx Freight and XPO in DFW had flopped. The intl had put three guys from the local on as project organizers, who are now back at their barns.

Not good, considering these types of campaigns are critical for our survival in the industry...

I read about people trying to organize and I think about how I work at Airgas, which use to be Air Liquide(and still is technically). We have 17,000 employees in the USA! How about a good place to start!

How do you like it there? They have a big place near me that's hiring drivers every once in awhile. They'll run an ad but never mention anything about pay and benefits.

They pay 53 cents per mile off the hub and so much a drop here. I believe pay can vary because some terminals are on only hourly pay. They basically screwed us and I am looking for greener pastures. With the merger of Airgas into Air Liquide they decided to cut our health benefits and 401k severely. I am now paying $12,000 a year where I was paying $1,000 and I had a 10% 401k. The drivers make $18.50 while on the clock and I make a little more at $22.00 but $12,000 a year for health insurance is a big hit.

I am not sure if the Teamsters are the correct union, but we really need a union.
