After 15yrs. on line haul without a chargeable accident & a 1 million mile safe driver award I became ill. When my 12 wk. FMLA was up they terminated my employment while I was laying in a hospital bed close to death from infection. I wasn't even notified I was terminated. I recovered. They're offering to give me a position as a new hire!

That's so not right. So sorry to hear how they did you dirty. This company has gotten so weird about a lot of things but this is one thing that hasn't changed. They have never been good about the treatment of injured employees. Good luck.

Oh my goodness I am so sorry to hear that my brother driver. When you don't buy the upgraded std you are at their mercy. Then if you are under 61 you have to buy the long term disability. You can stay within their system but it costs you. One of our drivers was off for like 18 month with diabetes and not only got his job back he got his bid run back too. Are you healthy enough to return to work? A new hire? nono. If you would like I will ask this driver how he got his p&d position back and get back to you. That's wrong. I know another driver had back surgery was off 6 or 8 months and came back and got back on his Waco run no problem. That's discriminatory. That's wrong. You sound like a long term employee and regardless of whatever your interaction with management must be treated according as everyone else has. PM me so I can communicate off the cuff here.

Sorry to hear about your situation and I'm glad you're better. As a decent human being, I would not only hold your job but give you financial assistance if I were one of the owners. I know they don't owe it to you but it's the decent thing to do as a compassionate person. I guess that's wishful thinking in this selfish world we live in. Stay strong brother.
