Ya all can help speed up the purchase problem by inserting a tube of valve grinding compound in to the oil filler tube & flush with a quart of oil. Now I know this idea is rude, crude & socially unacceptable among other things, but a 100% way to speed up the purchasing process. Try to be near a place with food water, & a toilet. Ya might have to wait a while for the wrecker. von.
Trust me when I tell you these antiques don't need that kinda help. There falling apart without any crap like that! LOL!

Getting caught destroying company property is cause for immediate discharge. There is little the local can do for you in a discharge hearing if the company has proof. Destroying property only cuts into company profit. It accomplishes nothing.

My 2001 city Volvo is probably safer than most orange or blue road tractors. And it is approaching 2 Million miles. But something will have to be done soon. They say they are planning 100 new per quarter in 2017. That's simply not enough
YRC bought several of the 500 Volvos that ABF bought in 2001. ABF kept about half of them for city tractors & just recently sold the remaining units. They were very good tractors. All had Detroit Series 60 power.

I drive one of those with a tandem, and fixed fifth wheel everyday. Still handles,I think, as good as anything we have. Peddle with a 53' also. That series 60 seems to be indestructible.

You are correct. We had 3 Volvos and they seem to have less problems compared to the rest of the fleet. I didn't like them for city work, but they were good road tractors. von.

Ok guys. This post started with "Taken City Trucks" and this is what I found out. 4 tractors from 186 and 2 tractors from 108 transferred to 123 for city operations! That's it! Not being used for line haul operation.

Are you saying some people just think the worst, and assume the poster knows what he is talking about, when in reality, it was not correct info from the start????

What about my pumpkin?

It's fallen on hard times.

Word came from tm.Four city trucks gone over weekend and replaced with rentals. So why Bigr would they just not rent the trucks at 123.

It would not. Maybe some, maybe, but most would get through destroying the engine. Don't believe me, go ask a diesel mechanic that rebuilds those engines & tell me what he said. I already know the answer.
Something I would never do. There are better ways to mess with someone. I know for a fact about the valve grinding compound & what it can do to an engine. I saw a company experience it years ago by a disgruntled employee. Even with a cylinder wall liner kit, it cost them a very large bucket of change.von.
