TForce | National Master UPS Freight Agreement (2013-2018) and TeamCare Info

Left con way 2 years ago and have not regretted the move. Yes the start out pay sucks and work is slow starting out but if you play your cards right, put money back when its busy you can make it. Benifits are far much better than any ive ever had. What you lose in pay you far more gain back in benifits. Yes its still a pain starting out, but yes the top pay is the best. The free health insurance is better than con ways and if you choose the premium insurance its 33 for family. I dont regret the move.

We pay around $52/m here in local 776 dues wise unless my figures are off.

As far as health insurance for the premium stuff I pay around $33/w.

Top rate and all that stuff can be found inside the contract shouldn't be too hard to find. Only down side and it's small in my opinion is that there is no employer match for 401k but considering we get a pension of $105/m for every yr of service with no cap use to have a 30 yr cap on the old formula.
That along with putting into your 401 can turn out quite nicely...

We are working hard to organize FedEx Freight and this information will definitely help our case. It looks like you have two health insurance options available, one of which you pay for. Can you tell me how much you pay for this plan? Approximately how much are current union dues for a UPS Freight driver at top scale? Would you be willing to tell me what top scale (hourly/mileage) for single road drivers is? Do you ever receive bonuses? I ask for this information because FedEx Freight management, ala Jackson Lewis (union buster), is arguing that union dues are a waste of money. I would like to compare the cost of your union dues/health insurance to what we are paying for health insurance coverage that is FAR INFERIOR to yours. Your help would be greatly appreciated. -Future Brother
Retiree insurance really bits. You need to wake up to that part of the contract....

The retiree insurance will eat all that up. Really expensive...

They are tellingoing you dues are a waste of money Really? Dues pay for your protection, that is where some of the dues go to they pay the locals attorney to fight grievances. They also pay the bills just like anything else that are ran. The church pays it's bills from donations, the moose lodge or elks same thing from dues. The hunting club same thing. That's what dues are for so ask him if paying insurance is that a waste of money and time. Lol

There health insurance or any other benefit has nothing to do with dues.

I wish people would stop associating monthly union dues with health insurance costs... It is so annoying to read or hear "well you pay $70 a month in dues so your insurance isn't really free".

Dues do not cover employer paid health insurance, at least not a LTL carrier represented by the Teamsters in the divided NMFA. ABF pays our healthcare premiums in full each week, whether single or family, and includes health, dental and vision. Dues are deducted once a month and are paid to the local... Not one penny of that goes towards health and welfare. There is only one plan for ABF union drivers and dockworkers and it is free. The deductibles and out of pockets are very low and the coverages are phenomenal. In other words, no worries of going bankrupt for a sudden accident or health condition that pops up.

I have read the contract, but still have a few questions.. Is the start out pay of 17.20 As stated for 2013 the start out pay today. Same for the start out milage of 43cents?

I would have to look at the contract to give you exact numbers... The starting rates for all positions is listed along with raise schedules and top rate. I started at 19.90 as a city driver. After one year, you go to top rate which is currently $24.xx an hour. OT is paid after 8 hours each day. If you are hired on FT, you will go through 30 days probation before you are considered permanent. Health insurance, or HWP, will kick in 60 or so days after you start... Company has to pay so much in advance at first before you receive benefits. Your insurance premiums each week are $0, nada, zilch. Your Teamsters Union initiation fee will vary by region. Your monthly union dues are 2.5 times your hourly wage, deducted once a month from your paycheck. I would have to look at the contract to give you specifics. Maybe someone else that knows will reply.

I was referring to ups freight contract. Not abf.

Ooops, my mistake... That is what I get for replying from email and not paying attention to which thread I am on. None the less, the rates of pay should be spelled out in the contract somewhere.

Hello everyone. I work for XPO(xconway) I have one simple question. If someone could please answer it. I would appreciate it..
Did you guy's get what you voted for and Did you gain more for the next 4 year's??
Ok i know that's 2 questions..
I ask because XPO(XCONWAY) tell's their worker's. You don't have a say on what your going to get in the contract. The union does. Also you'll loose thing's on every contract..

Ask yourself this, if a company stood to gain on each contract why would they not embrace a union?

Because the company is worried about the worker's spending their hard earned money and they don't want them to spend their money on a 3rd party when they can directly negotiate. And #2 the company really care's about it's worker's..
At least that's what I've heard..

That is the current history with the teamsters. I would suggest that you guys leave the teamsters behind and find another union to represent you. NEMF has some branch of the Machinist's Union and if I was in your shoes I would dig into them.
