Heard today 8 drivers quit last week at volpe In Phoenixville because of no work, the company 2 mil in debt and has not paid into the pension.

I think thier LTL is union and their dedicated drivers are non union. Why would Saia waste time buying them, they only own the terminal in Phoenixville and rent in Harrisburg.

Remember frames in west chester?

Maybe for the accounts? And best guess they interline with a New England company. I have seen Volpe trls in Ct, Ma RI

Saia already interlines with NEMF, a small LTL in CT( and I mean small) and Pitt Ohio(not sure how much anymore with the openings of the terminals in Pa and NJ).

Are there any updates on this matter? What's the union doing, letting him not pay while letting the guys continue to accrue pension credits to help kill another pension fund? IF Volpe is not making his pension payments he can be shut down over it and the least they should do is freeze the men's pensions where they are instead of letting them continue to mount up. :ranting2: :soapbox:

It appears that you have some information that we don't have about what's going on at Volpe. How long has Volpe not been making it's pension contributions? I don't get why you are so concerned about those Teamsters may still be accruing pension credits. It's only been 3 months into a years credit. How many Volpe Teamsters are sill working that you fear it will have an impact the fund? If it's true that they are getting credits without company contributions wouldn't that be on the trustees and not the union to freeze their pensions? Wouldn't the trustees not the union be violating their fiduciary obligations? I think there may be more to the story. Why do you want the union to shut them down and put the remaining Teamsters out of a job?

If I had more information I would share it.

When Funds are anemic it is important to keep as much under control as possible. From that statement it sounds like you think that we should wait for three years before action is taken. There are written parameters (I do not know what they are) for when action can be taken. To me that should define it.

Who are the Trustees? (Rhetorical question, I know who they are, do you?)

Once again you go putting words in my mouth, maybe you need to go back and check on what solutions I recommended. You seem to make a lot of assumptions like what you think is facts. :confused1:

Sorry I mistakenly made that assumption, but not as a fact, based on these 2 of your comments.
There is an unconfirmed story from a reliable source that Volpe Express is in dire straights and has ceased making pension payments. IF this story is true what is Ernie doing about it? Is he permitting the company to continue operating while the men accrue pension benefits without collecting to funds to the detriment of yet another pension fund?

IF Volpe is not making his pension payments he can be shut down over it
Taken out of context in thinking that shutting them down and putting Teamsters out of work just for missing pension contributions was an option the union had.

I don't know how you got 3 years out of 3 months. This threat was started 28 days ago. Based on that I assumed that if Volpe hadn't made any pension contributions in 2017 then they would be 2 months in arrears. That's not even 1/4 of a pension credit.

Who are the Trustees? (Rhetorical question, I know who they are, do you?)
No I don't know who those specific trustees are. I do know that in the 2 funds I was in there were an equal number of trustees from management and the union. But the union trustees were not necessarily members of the executive board. And the Fund administrator had the tie breaking vote.

I guess you inadvertently missed the bolded portion. I'm done with you.

No I didn't miss it that's why I said I took the shut down part out of context. I'm not sure what your

means. Is it just for this thread or am I now on your ::shit:: list? I don't think I have done anything wrong other than express my thoughts about your thinking the union could or should shut Volpe down for missing a pension contribution.
