SEFL | Driver Retention

Leadership says our only competition is Estes, Averitt, AAA, R&L, etc. When asked specifically about FX, ups, and OD the response is those are not regional carriers; they are national and therefore aren't our competitors
I know when UPS bought Overnite, we lost a lot of shipments to them at our barn. As a linehaul driver, I don't expect to be paid .72 a mile, although that would be nice, but SEFL ain't even in the ballpark. But if I were a city driver, I would expect the $28 an hour UPS Freight gets.

That would be nice but don't see us getting $28/hr for many more years. By that time we will probably be closer to $5/HR behind them.

The safety awards meeting we go to every year is a steam pile of you know what. They preach to us about how much more freight we move in a coverage area than any other carrier. Them they go into talking about how high our operating cost is, them say we'll we had a 90 operating cost for the year but we are taxed here and there on that remaining 10 cents. This company is making a whole lot money than they claim to.

Our barn is always hiring, try getting a job with fedex or ups freight and see how many openings they have, in my area they have 0 and its hard to get on with them. I'd be gone in a heartbeat if they called me, doing 25-30 stops a day is getting ridiculous.

And don't forget the part where they brag about how they charge more than the other carriers for the premium service we provide.

Another point too look at the freight southeastern is hauling house stops and not to mention the white glove service guys have to do with the motel freight.

Estes is national so there's another lie they told.
