FedEx Freight | Tractors governed

hahaha...too funny..i doubt seriously this has any truth what so ever to it....you'd have to send me a written staement from your shop manager and also a photo of a before and after truck with its new paint colors to it along with a vin number to prove its the same truck....wow..you must really think Watkins drivers are dummys

hahaha

White Eagle; I work for National in Dallas and our Regional shop manager has said that Natioal will be getting up to 500 units to go into the city operations.

Jif-Lox isn't that a way to get your clothes dirty by just walking near it? Or that's a device that lets you get stuck on dry land? Or it's an useless set up that makes a single axle into a tandem.

All 3 would be correct...lol Thats the one thing I dont think I will ever miss about Roadway.

i don't doubt we're getting trucks...but i doubt its the way that the other guy said.

Well you need to check out the FedEx Freight and you will find those 500 trucks they are buying. Repainted and rebranded Frt trucks. I know more than likely better than those Corn Binders WML got for City, what junk they wereand still are.

We dont have those at our terminal. We run all road tractors thank god. I know I see alot of FXFE guys running around in those little trucks and this summer they were pretty toasty in them.

i drive for fxf east here in west texas, up to dallas and back, have not noticed any significant slow down by the fxf national guys out this way. i have seen a couple of the old white volvos we used to drive sitting in dallas rebranded (national and different number system). maybe that 55 mph stuff is just a .....RUMOR? never any rumors out there in the freight world though, right?

LOL is that why your city guys still ride around in trucks with no air? I guess being at the bottom of this so called "FedEx Totem pole isn't to bad because our hourly rate is higher that Freights here in the east anyway.

We are still getting new trucks as we always have and yes we are getting some of these painted trucks but there is a reason for that and it has nothing to do with being new comers to FedEx. Our terminal has already got 3 new national trucks. (not your old trucks) I enjoy driving my 2006 volvo with cruise control.

I also enjoy our vacation/personal day policy I mean who wouldn't enjoy earning 14 hours per month and being able to roll it over year to year.

Dont come into this forum tossing around how we will get your junk and we are low on this so called totem pole. We are all here to do the same job and dont pretend that we are second class to you.

Please don't think we (freight) all feel this way. we don't... I say welcome to fedex...
As far as the older red volvo's, I drive a 98, and its a great truck. Sure, it needs more power, but it does run 65, rides and drives great, and is real quiet....
Have a good day ! :)

Very true Root, I just try to ignore that one... be it a little car who has to get in front of the 'truck' and then slow down,, or whatever...:smilie_132:

hahaha...you said a mouthful with your last statement...you mean the trucking industry really has rumors circulating around it?...i thought we all knew everything...maybe its true when they start out with...you ain't gonna believe this ****

well i know how that crazy stuff works with every division thinking they are better than others, as a ex-Dugan employee, we were always trashing Holland and visa versa...its not the best way to make a company strong when everyone is at each others throats. i would say the samething to all FedEx employees as i did with the USF employees..we ALL work for the same family so we should act as brothers and sisters...so i'm glad to be with the FedEx family even though i'll miss Watkins...glad to know everyone here the wears the purple colors

At Yellow we use our judgement

I wonder how conway and abf and many others haul their heavy freight with single axle trucks? Dont get me wrong twin screws are nice but not needed if you have dock people who can load trailers right.

If at a terminal with a scale, we can request they give an axle weight printout, if they haven't already. If it wasn't done already and we request it, we only get paid for the delay if its over on an axle and they have to remedy. I.E. twin screw or load adjustment. If we pickup at a P & D terminal, we can run at our option with unknown weights or go to nearest scale and CAT scale it. They'll petty cash the scale ticket at your home terminal. If its over then, being union, we have the option of breaking the law a we bit or requesting they send us a twin screw, while we wait on time at the truck stop.

I think the point he was trying to make is that he has the option and will get paid if he decides to wait until someone fixes the problem.

About 30 3 axels in the fefw division 7 in Grand Junction for the Denver turn. The other 10 or 12 guys slipseat with LVS tracktors. 2 axels have to chain about 65 times a season while the 3 axels chain about 22. The rest are used in Montana and Wyoming for P&D work. Which they don't like or need. They do need a certain amount for the rockie Mountain Doubles they haul in Mon. and Wy. Many of the P&D drivers in those states don't want the 3 axels to peddle freight in. They should have those 3 axels in the rockies where they could present the correct platform for the job. 90% of the trucks in the other freight haulers use 3 axels. If we are the PREMIER carrier then we shouldn't be the last to have the correct equipment.
