ODFL | Plastic flapping in the wind?

What is the purpose of putting a sheet of plastic over the freight on a line haul pup and hanging it out the door? Just curious see it all the time.

It's not supposed to hang out of the door very far. Just enough to hold it down. It keeps water out, especially useful in snowy areas.

Most of the time the plastic is hung wrong with wide side hanging down.Also,they are not tied good and they will just fall when door is closed.

Yeah I've never understood why that concept was so hard for our dock personnel to grasp... I mean it's not like we're paying $10/hr, our dock guys get paid pretty well and I think we should be able to expect a certain level of competency...

I always pull on the overhanging plastic and stuff it in the icc bar if it has an opening.

I'm guessing those are there to say "hey stupid you're about to walk off the dock!!" The ones we have in ATL couldn't stop anyone from falling, especially a 625 lb road driver...

There you go again. I'm a lazy 700 lb driver. I take my blade and cut it if it hangs out from the door. Then the motoring public can see my lights.
