R&L | What do you Love about working here? What do you Hate about working here?

I like the people I work with some of us do get together outside of work. We need a real retirement plan and no overtime pay.
 
i liked that lots of good people were willing work for their money and do a good job.problem is upper management,i was at RL 8 yrs and the last 4 or so was downhill.Yes Zimmerman is a joke and that's about when it started going downhill for RL,alot of regional mgrs need to go also.My problem was i went from driver to dispatch and was constantly accused of standing up for the drivers and not for the company.screw those so called numbers,when drivers get out late with impossible routes,somethings not going to go right.The main problem was our TM spent more time trying to pawn his work-load off on others and hide behind his locked door(open door policy is out the door..lol)but when numbers were down or something went wrong he was the first one to throw everyone else under the bus.Your a TM,your job is to manage the terminal,not sit around and hope it all works out.it's almost like everyone's just out for themselves and there's no more working for the greater good. my advice to new hires would be,come in,do your job and leave.stay out of the politics and you'll do ok.

Mr. Cheese, this can't be the best and only advice you have for Mr. Herbert. If what Mr. Hubert is saying is true, you should support him, it's not against the law or any company policy. If what he is saying is false, prove it. These companies have way more advantages without your support. I whish more worker had the courage as Mr. Hebert. He uses his name, not some screen name. I support you Mr. Hebert who ever you are.

Whats all this hoopla from other people over about working cheap is about 75 bucks a week 300 a month. R+L is laid back, just come in do your job the best you can, in some cases deal with the lazy co-worker or not so bright dispatcher. You really have to try hard to get fired here. That to some people is worth a little less? No? Its not worth hacking on people, thats for sure.

Let's touch on sph and bph first of All most terminals don't run correctly on the Kronos clock to begin with let's system you have a 9 am start time and depart the yard at 11 am due to assisting loading these are actually dock hours not citu hours if we use the functions correctly our need change drastically the PROBLEM is the inbound supervisor is limited on dock hours and tells u to go onto city hours when u r on the dock working Let's play fair here my friends
 
Now everyone is on a call in list I mean every driver
We didn't agree to this call in its not our fault they have poor planning on there part get an education
 
I love it here. My wife and I team drive linehaul and this is the most pay we have ever earned. Home every weekend is nice too. We will retire in 10 years with a very nice retirement nest egg which we did not start til we started here 2 years ago. We are grossing 1900 week each and not at full pay yet. On a dedicated run also. Very happy. The solo guys at our terminal are happy also. Guess it depends on which terminal you are out of.

It's been pretty good to me,worked here 17 years and don't have very many complaints..OT would be nice but I don't see that ever happening.
Management not bad here in WIL just do your job and stay out of the office politics.we could do with some better driver/trainers here but that's another story..
 
My wife and I team drive here. This is our 3rd year. We have never made this much money teaming anywhere. We have a dedicated run and home every night to our home terminal for 2 to 3 hrs. Drop and hook. Off 2 full days Sat and Sun. 6000 miles week. 1st year we grossed 85k each. 2nd year 90k and this year will be 95k. They give cost of living raises every now and then. The 5 k increase was because we start at 85 percent of full pay then 5 percent increases each year and a couple of cost of living raises in there as well. I was told before we hired on wages were stagnant because of the 08 recession.
 
Well I always been pro R+L. But now we have a YRC reject as a Terminal Manager. He was Fire by YRC and Siaia. Now we have him. As soon as line haul is lake. He backs city start time. We went from 8:30 am to 9:00 am to 9;30 am he first said 10:30 am start time. The gut was fire from YRC for same type of reactions. We have no water in the Terminal that is drinkable but in the Office kitchen. Driver s and Dock workers have no access to water when working on dock in 115 degree heat. Dock water fountain is unusable. TM put signs up everywhere as if we are all children. Bill per hour is 2.5 He requires 6 bill per hour now. This Terminal is at a all time low for moral. Driver still bust ass. 20% increase in freight with drivers and dock works out on lt duty. We use no temps. If line is short he pulls from city when we are short. Dispatcher out pulls driver to do work even when we are down 2 or 3 driver. I now only do what will keep me from being fired. Will not do ::shit:: unless on clock. They want to say something I clock in pisses them off. HAHAHA
